With an infinite number of Minecraft landscapes available to you, the fun survival game comes with the knowledge that you’ll never see all the stunning world generations out there. But, thankfully, Minecraft world seeds – a reference number specific to a Minecraft world generation – help us at least experience some of them. When players around the world discover a particularly incredible Minecraft world, they are able to share that very seed for others to explore. So how to you load into an existing Minecraft seed? Follow our step-by-step guide to do just that.

You’ll may need to know which version the seed you are loading is specific for, as there is not complete seed parity across versions just yet. Seed parity was introduced with the 1.18 Caves and Cliffs part 2 update, but only applies to biomes and landscapes, not to structure generation.

How to load a Minecraft world seed — Java Edition

If you want to recreate one of your own worlds from scratch, you can simply select it and hit the “Re-Create” button. However, if you have found a seed online or been recommended one by a friend, here’s how to load it up!

1.

Create a New World

Click “Singleplayer”, and then select the “Create New World” option from the bottom of the screen.

2.

More World Options

From here, you’ll be able to name your world and choose your difficulty and mode. To enter a seed, however, you’ll need to hit the “More World Options” button.

3.

Enter Seed

In the very top box, you’ll be able to enter text or numbers, and this is where you’ll enter the seed. Ordinarily, you can simply leave this blank, or even enter a random number, but to load into a specifically generated world, enter the seed you want here.

4.

Create your world!

That’s it! Once you ensured you’ve changed every other option to suit your needs, click on Create New World, and you’ll load into the specific seed you’ve entered. You cannot change it, so double check it’s correct.

Changing “World Type” and customizing will void the seed you’ve entered, and you may find that any structures or landscapes you wanted to see won’t be there. To ensure you’ll get the correct world, these options must match those of the original world you’re wanting to replicate.

How to load a Minecraft world seed — Bedrock Edition

1.

Create New World

From the main Bedrock menu, you’ll want to click “Create New”, and then “Create New World” on the following screen.

2.

Navigate to Advanced Options

From here, you’ll automatically see the General game options. You’ll need to click “Advanced” on the left-hand side of the screen.

3.

Enter seed

Enter the seed number into the box at the top of the Advanced Options screen. Make sure it’s right, as you’ll have to complete the process again if you have entered the seed incorrectly.

Like with Java Edition, you’ll need to ensure that the other settings are correct for the seed. Usually, these will be the standard settings, so don’t change any other options unless you know they have been changed for the seed you’re playing (for example, large biomes.)

Playing your new Minecraft world

Hopefully, if you’ve been given a great seed to try, you’ll have been given the specific co-ords for the view/structure in question. Minecraft worlds are massive in size, so you might not find something specific without a little help. Alternatively, you might have been given a seed for its spawn – perhaps there are lots of different biomes nearby or a close village. In this case, you will spawn in the same place as everyone else using this seed.

Have fun exploring amazing Minecraft worlds with some great seeds, and if you find an amazing Minecraft worldgen, don’t forget to share your seed, too! We’ve got another step-by-step guide on how to find your world seed, depending on which Minecraft version you are playing. Speaking of which, the amazing seed we came across which appears in our featured image is 1934646929 in Java Edition 1.19, featuring the Wild Update’s Mangrove Swamp biome at spawn.
