How Does Minecraft’s Fire Protection Enchantment Work?
The Fire Protection Enchantment can be placed in all articles of armor which includes chest plates, leggings, boots, and helmets. It is recommended to use armor that has the Fire Protection Enchantment yourself to explore the Nether area which has a lot of lava in the environment. The enchantment can also be useful when fighting blazes and ghasts. Each instance of the enchantment reduces fire damage by 8%.
If you have Fire Protection I on a single piece of armor, you will take 8% reduced fire damage. If you have Fire Protection II on a single piece of armor, you will take 16% reduced fire damage. The enchantment level goes all the way up to tier IV. The maximum fire damage reduction you can get is capped at 80% so you should use your enchantments accordingly in order to not go over the specified limit.
If you want the highest level of enchantment on a piece of armor, the best way to get the upgrades is by combining objects. You can use both enchanted armor or books to upgrade your enchantments. It is one of the easiest ways to build up your enchantments without wasting precious resources.
