2019’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare was six hours long, fairly short for a modern fps, which typically averages around ten hours.

Doom Eternal clocked in at 14 hours, Halo Infinite at 10, and Metro Exodus at 15. Out of these examples, only Halo has a significant multiplayer component.

Still, all those games leave the last COD in the dust regarding length. But what about some of the other more recent installments?

Call of Duty Vanguard clocks in between five and seven hours while Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War can be beaten in just over five. If we go back to 2017, Call of Duty WW2 also fell in that range with a seven-hour-long campaign. My money is on the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign length falling somewhere in the 6 or 7 hours range.

What’s the Magic Number?

Games are expensive. So if you’re shelling out $70 for a new game, you should expect to get some mileage out of it. It remains to be seen just how different Modern Warfare 2 will differ from Modern Warfare 1 in terms of its multiplayer. It’s likely they won’t differ much, so why not just stick to playing 1?

There have been some bits of news trickling out ahead of Call of Duty Next, a special livestream that’ll shed some light on what’s under the hood of the new game. You can tune in yourself on September 15 at 12:30PM Eastern Standard Time on their YouTube channel.

Though they’ve only discussed some of the upcoming changes to the Gunsmith system, it’s hard to believe they’ll reveal nothing at Call of Duty Next as far as the campaign for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is concerned.

Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Preview

If you want to find out for yourself, you can get early access to the campaign a full week before launch (October 28) on your platform of choice so long as you pre-order. That’ll give you time to enjoy it before jumping into multiplayer.

If you want early access to that you can get it this week, but only if you pre-order on PlayStation. The multiplayer beta goes live on September 16 and runs until the 26. PlayStation owners without a pre-order can jump in on September 18. All players on all platforms will get access on September 24. If you pre-order on either PC or Xbox you can get in early on September 22.

How Long is the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign?

There’s no official announcement yet for how long the campaign is but judging by recent installments in the franchise, it should be anywhere between 7-10 hours long.

Can I Get Early Access to the Campaign?

Yes, you can. If you pre-order the game you’ll get a full week’s early access to the single player campaign. All platforms are eligable for early access and all at the same time.
