Malzeno is one of the Three Lords in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.

After you beat Garangolm and Lunagaron, you’ll face off against Malzeno. It’s designed after a vampire while the previous two lords were designed after werewolves and Frankenstein.

A lot of players get stuck in the fight and we understand why. The enemy can stop you from healing, which can be very frustrating but we are here to help.

Here is a breakdown of the fight to help you understand Malzeno’s attacks and beat the boss easily.

How to Beat Malzeno in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak

Here are all seven abilities that Malzeno uses against you:

Bloodblight Flame:

This is the most dangerous attack as it applies the new Bloodblight status on you. Once affected, you lose health and you won’t be able to heal. If this status hits you when you are already too low, you’ll lose the fight. It’s recommended to keep your health topped up as much as possible and not get greedy.

Transformation:

If you let Malzeno drain too much of your health, it triggers a transformation and it’ll attack you more rapidly.

Fiery Bombardment:

Malzeno takes to the skies as it bombards you in a large area. If you see it fly, you should immediately move to cover and avoid incoming fire.

Bloodblight Orbs:

Malzeno throws out three orbs that move away from the boss. Getting hit by these applies the Bloodblight status on players.

Tail Thrust:

These are simple attacks that are often used in quick succession.

Groundshatter:

If you stay too far from the boss, Malzeno uses this high range attack.

Teleport Whirl:

You have to stay somewhat close to the boss, otherwise it teleports close to you and starts laying down damage.

With some of Malzeno’s attacks being reliant on you straying too far from the boss, you can stay close to the boss to completely prevent some attacks from ever taking place. As long as you are not affected by Bloodblight, you should be safe.
