Today, we’re going to look at 5 of the most beautiful games you can pick up in 2020. We’ve picked games in a couple of different genres, so there should be one that strikes your fancy.

Although it took its time making its way to PC, Red Dead Redemption 2 didn’t disappoint us in the graphics department. Many people who first played the game on consoles ended up picking this title up a second time around to experience the impressive visuals and increased frame rates.

Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in 1899 during the decline of the Wild West. Players can explore a vast open-world that spans five fictitious states. There are wide plains, dense forests, small towns, homesteads, and large cities to explore.

You could spend hours riding across the map, discovering side quests, doing a bit of hunting, and marveling at some of the grand sights. Of course, with this being a Rockstar game, there is also a great story to dive into. You’ll play as Arthur Morgan during his time in the Van der Linde gang. Currently on the run from bounty hunters and the law, you’ll fight your way across America as you try to survive. Red Dead Redemption 2 acts as a sequel to the franchise which means you’ll see plenty of familiar faces and places during gameplay.

Our most recent game on the list is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Even if you aren’t a fan of aviation or simulators, this is a perfect game for a bit of sightseeing and exploration. Using data from Bing maps, the entire Earth has been recreated in breathtaking detail.

While a lot of locations are automatically generated, there are some great sights to discover on your travels. Some of these are special enough to have had some hand-crafted attention including the Pyramids, the Statue of Liberty and the Sydney Opera House.

With over 35,000 airports and 20 aircraft included in the standard edition, those with a keen interest in aviation can learn how to pilot some of the best aircraft in the world. These include propeller aircraft such as the Cessna 152 and X Cub, Turboprops such as the Daher TBM 930, and Cessna 208 B Grand Caravan. Also included are jets such as the Cessna Citation CJ4 and airliners like the Airbus A320neo and the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental.

Aside from the terrain, the lighting and weather effects in this game are spectacular to behold. The cloud models are among the best to be seen in a flight simulator and your first flight approaching a busy city at night is unforgettable.

Set in Bohemia during the early 15th century, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a role-playing game with an eye for realism and immersion. There is no magic on offer here and your character isn’t the ‘chosen one’, instead you’ll need to improve your skills from the ground up as you progress through the storyline.

The story takes place during a period of war in Bohemia and follows Henry, the son of a blacksmith. After Henry’s village is massacred by Cuman mercenaries, Henry joins the service of Lord Radzig Kobyla as part of a resistance movement against the invasion. If you are a fan of history, you’ll love exploring this game and there are even comparison videos of what some of the areas look like today.

What makes this game particularly beautiful though is its setting. Located in the heart of Europe, Kingdom Come does a great job at modeling a massive and realistic open world. You could spend hours exploring the castles and countryside and it’s also pretty easy to get lost in the vast forests too. While this game was pretty difficult to get running smoothly when it launched, modern systems won’t have too much trouble pushing this game to its highest settings.

If you are a fan of traveling back in time, here’s another one for you. The Assassin’s Creed games are must-plays and the latest one, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey certainly does not disappoint in terms of either graphics or storytelling.

The story begins with you as an outcast and lets you embark on a journey to become a legend while uncovering the secrets of Ancient Greece. You play as either Alexios or Kassandra, mercenaries on a quest to get vengeance.

Aside from the story and mini-quests, Odyssey is a stunning game with a vibrant world to explore. With sweeping landscapes, bustling cities, and exciting sea journeys, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is not one to miss.

With the Tobii Eye Tracking extended view, you get a broader perspective of the fantastic environment, while Dynamic Light and Sun Effects truly immerse you in the world of Ancient Greece. Naturally, with any Assassin’s Creed game, you’ll want to head to a high point, whether that’s a mountain or a grand monument to Athena. From those vantage points, you get to experience the vast landscapes around you – if you want to take a break from fighting in epic battles, that is.

Although DOOM Eternal isn’t beautiful in a heartwarming kind of way, the graphics and level of detail make this game one of the greatest first-person-shooters to release in the last few years. The graphics are so good in this game, the highest level of fidelity is known as Ultra Nightmare mode and you’ll need an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti upwards to run it at stable frame rates.

The demonic-looking landscapes are great to explore and all of the enemies you’ll come across are gruesome and terrifying. You’ll have no problem cutting through your foes though, you’ll once again play as Doomguy as you battle the forces from Hell. There is plenty of health and ammo drops to keep you fighting forward through the endless waves of demons and monsters.

The weapons feel great to play around with and each of the various firearms is modeled in high detail and look and sound excellent. If you’re a fan of FPS games, DOOM Eternal is a great game to pick up, especially if you want to see what your system can really handle.
