Our list below shows the best killstreaks in MW2 so far. We’ll update the list with any new killstreaks we learn about as they get added to the game.

MW2 Best Killstreaks

UAV – 4 Kills

You might scoff, but the UAV is a staple of pretty much every COD game, and for very good reasons. Not only is this a pretty cheap killstreak, requiring only four kills to unlock, but it also gives you a bunch of points from UAV Assists and can turn the tide against the enemy if your team utilizes it effectively.

Care Package – 5 Kills

The care package is a top pick if you’re into gambling. This killstreak drops a box with a random killstreak inside, and there’s a chance you’ll get one of those super high-end streaks from it.

Basically, this streak has the potential to enable stuff like the Juggernaut for only five kills. Madness.

Precision Air Strike – 6 Kills

Don’t know the precision air strike. Though it and the Mortar Strike are both awesome options, the Precision Air Strike is more accurate, and thus gives you much better odds of actually hitting your target.

Sentry Gun – 7 Kills

While not as initially impactful as other explosive options, the Sentry Gun can be used as an excellent area denial tool, providing additional firepower, guarding chokepoints, and often catching enemies off guard when placed in a tricky or obscured position.

The S.A.E offers power and incredible precision, but the six-kill tier also provided a trio of excellent bombardment options for slightly cheaper.

The sentry gun does things differently, and it’s that versatility that earns it the top spot.

VTOL Jet – 8 Kills

The VTOL Jet works as a combination of previous, effective killstreaks. Its firepower is lesser than something like the S.A.E, but its precision strikes are still lethal and hard to avoid.

And once those strikes have hit, the VTOL Jet is just as efficient an area denial tool as the sentry turret.

With multiple applications, this is an exceptionally worthwhile killstreak to unlock.

Chopper Gunner – 10 Kills

While previous killstreak air support has been impactful, at the end of the day, you’re still relying on AI targeting to wipe out your opponents.

The Chopper Gunner lets you take charge directly, unleash havoc with missiles and a rapid-fire turret. And if you’re on a killstreak of ten, you’re likely to be more lethal than any automatic targeting could hope to be.

Gunship – 12 Kills

The deadliest air support offered in Modern Warfare 2. If you managed to climb up to twelve kills, a Gunship is going to absolutely devastate the opposition. There’s nothing else like it in terms of aggression and precision.

The Advance UAV is also a potent option if you prefer to do the work yourself than leave it to support vehicles.

The opposing team will be marked and vulnerable for this killstreak’s duration, allowing you to track and pick them off with ease.

Juggernaut – 15 Kills

It would be hard to list the best killstreaks in MW2 without talking about Juggernaught. This beast requires 15 kills, but you’re almost guaranteed to double that by using this streak. It gives you a set of Juggernaught assault gear with a minigun.

Not only does this make you insanely hard to kill, but you can dish out insane damage, and even when you do go down, you drop the minigun for your team to use. Perfect.

Small-Scale Game Modes (Small Maps)

These are game types that have a small number of players (6 each) and a small map. These game types include Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search and Destroy, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Headquarters, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Free-for-All, Domination, Search and Destroy, Headquarters, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Prisoner Rescue, and Knock Out.

Kill-Based Killstreaks

KillstreaksKillsSummary
Precision Airstrike6Call in twin jets for a precision airstrike along the best available path.
Cruise Missile6Long range cruise missile with boost capabilities that is controlled by player.
SAE7Call in a trio of jets to release aerial explosives onto specified targets.

The Killstreak combo of a Precision Airstrike, Cruise Missile, and SAE is focused on earning easy, yet well deserved kills. Although these killstreaks only cover a certain portion of the map, it is perfect for small-scale game modes.

Intel-Based Killstreaks

KillstreaksKillsSummary
UAV4Reveals enemy locations in the minimap.
Counter UAV5Scrambles all enemy minimaps.
Advanced UAV12Non-targetable by anti-aircraft weaponry, reveals the enemies on the mini map in real time.

These are suited for players who are in a support role, helping to secure objectives. The UAV & Counter UAV is a solid killstreak combo that provides intel for your team whilst also disrupting enemy minimaps. Although the Advanced UAV isn’t the easiest to acquire, playing a passive support role will make it easier to get.

Large-Scale Game Modes (Large Maps)

These are Game Modes that involve a large number of players (20 or 32 each ) and a much larger map. They also tend to be much longer and can have a faster pace. For example, Ground War and Invasion would fall into this category.

KillstreakKillsSummary
SAE7Call in a trio of jets to release aerial explosives onto specified targets.
Chopper Gunner10Control an assault chopper armed with a turret and air-to-land missiles.
Gunship12A Heavy Assault Gunship equipped with a laser tracking missile, along with the standard 40mm and 25mm cannons.

The SAE, Chopper Gunner, and Gunship killstreak loadout requires a large amount of kills or score to activate. They are more difficult to obtain, but they offer greater rewards, and on bigger maps, you’re likely to stay alive longer if you play tactically.

The Chopper Gunner and Gunship, will allow the player to manually control aircrafts that can eliminate hostiles. These also last longer than ordinary killstreaks.

As you can see, some fan-favorite killstreaks from the original game haven’t made a comeback. For instance, it’s not possible to get the 25-kill killstreak ‘Tactical Nuke’ which was a huge part of the meta of the original game’s multiplayer mode.

If you’re familiar, the Tactical Nuke kills everyone on the map, and hands the win to the user’s team, regardless of who was winning before. It was an amazing killstreak, but so far it’s completely missing from MW2. With any luck, it will be added in a future update.
