This is the last gun you unlock if you play the multiplayer beta. Once you hit level 30, you’ll get your hands on arguably the best gun in Modern Warfare 2. Here’s a guide to making the best TAQ 56 build.

While you couldn’t equip any attachments to this rifle during the beta (weird choice, Infinity Ward), you could, however, take a version of it with a handful of attachments for a spin. And boy, did we like what we saw.

The TAQ 56 has range, power, stability, and mobility. Pretty much everything you’d be looking for in your main AR.

As we said, we couldn’t trick this rifle out like some of the others during the beta, but we’re excited to get our hands back on it once the game drops on October 28.

Until that day comes and we can update this article, we’ll have to speculate as far as what kind of build we plan to run. We do have some ideas:

• Extended barrel or suppressor? It’s a toss-up sometimes whether you go for range or sound suppression and recoil smoothing. We’ll have to see which one feels better.
• A foregrip. ARs depend on stability to engage at range. Sometimes it comes down to whose recoil pattern is tighter.
• A hand grip. You want to have at least one attachment dedicated to aim-down-sight speed. If you can’t shoulder your rifle, then you’re already dead.
• a fast stock or a solid stock? We could go either way on this. It’ll all depend on if we need aim down sight speed or stability but based on our experience with the TAQ 56 so far, we’re leaning towards aim down sight.
• A 4x scope. Who doesn’t love a little magnification?

Best TAQ 56 Strategy for Modern Warfare 2

The TAQ 56 embodies the ideal AR. You have maximum flexibility on the battlefield when you can engage at close, medium, and long distances. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this get nerfed at some point.

As always, experiment with what attachments work best for you. Compared to Warzone and Modern Warfare 2019, Modern Warfare 2 will allow you to swap out barrels on more assault rifles, making your weapons shorter or longer depending on what playstyle you prefer.

Take a short barrel if you like to get in people’s faces. Want to hit them from afar? Go for a long barrel. The Tundra pro barrel is well beloved for its damage range.

The goal, though, should be to craft a well-rounded playstyle that will translate well to the next incarnation of Warzone, and that’s all about being proficient at any range.
