What is Inspect Weapons in MW2?
Want to know what ‘inspect weapon’ means? Well, it’s essentially a method where you’re able to get a better look at your equipped weapon. When inspecting a weapon, your player operator will go through an animation through which you can get a better look at your weapon from multiple angles. Whether its a new camo, new attachment, or a blueprint, you can check it out in-game by inspecting.
Every gun has an inspection animation. From taking a look at the mastery camos or showing off your new designs, the MW2 weapon inspect allows you to marvel your own achievements.

Having your operator take a good look at your gun is a great way to make the most out of those skins you’ve poured hundreds of hours into. Of course, it’s also quite distracting, so try not to be so focused on your gun that your gameplay suffers.
Why Can’t I Inspect my Weapons?
If you’re pressing ‘i’ and nothing is happening, then there are a few different reasons why this might be happening. We’ve listed the most common reasons below to help you figure out what is going on.
One common problem can be that you’ve changed the key-binding for the ‘Inspect’ command. Go through your keyboard and mouse settings or controller settings if you’re using one, and make sure that ‘inspect’ is correctly bound to the key you’re pressing.

Another thing to remember is that inspecting your weapons can only be done in multiplayer modes. While playing through the single-player campaign, it’s impossible to press ‘i’ and get a unique animation for your gun. This is probably because the mechanic is designed for multiplayer, where you can apply custom skins to your weapons.
