Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer is pretty brutal – but thankfully, help is on hand with MW2’s double XP weekend. For those new to the game, XP rewards performance with weapons, skins, attachments, and more. While this is earned during matches, throughout MW2 Activision has a few tricks up its sleeve to give you a helping hand.
One of these is the double XP weekend, which – as the name suggests – gives you twice the amount of XP during the promotion’s duration to help you rank up your loadout. These are becoming increasingly important, especially as the recent battle passes cost a lot of money. DoubleXP weekends essentially give you ‘free’ experience points, and so are incredibly popular. During double XP weekends, you’ll typically gain weapon and player XP – which helps you level up quicker. This means you’re able to unlock more attachments, weapons, calling cards, and a lot more. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
When is the next double XP weekend in MW2? – Prediction
So, when is the next one? The next Double XP event time is still unknown, as Activision has not announced anything yet. Since a Double XP weekend happened a while ago, it is fair to say the next one is coming soon. We predict that the next Double XP Weekend will run from October 13 to October 15, 2023, ending at 10am PST / 1pm EST / 6pm BST.
The last The last Double XP weekend began on August 17, and since then we haven’t seen any indication of when the next one will come.
With MW2 Season 6 here, we predicted another Double XP weekend is likely to be in the works. In the past, Call of Duty typically scheduled double XP weekends in and around the final weekend of a season, although there is no set schedule. Due to the approaching release of MW3, we can assume that MW2 will ramp up its last experience weekends to entice more people to purchase the game before it ends.
The last Double XP weekend appeared to happen for players to grind out the Season 5 Battle Pass. Whenever the next one occurs, it is likely to serve the same purpose, but for the Season 6 Battle Pass instead.
When is the next double XP weekend for PlayStation users in MW2? – Prediction
There is currently no information about when the next Double XP weekend will occur. However, PlayStation players always get early access thanks to preexisting contracts so our predicted Double XP Weekend date for PlayStation for early access is October 12 to October 13, then will be able to take part in the regular Double XP Weekend time.
Normally, the Infinity Ward Trello board tells us when the next Double XP weekend will come, but there is still no word on it.
When was the last double XP weekend in MW2?
The last Double XP weekend took place between August 17 to August 21, 2023. If you can’t wait until the next Double XP weekend, there are other ways to get Double XP tokens – there are some alternative methods that are very effective.
How to get Double XP in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2
There are a number of ways to get Double XP in Infinity Ward Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 but the best way is through tokens. These tokens give you a limited amount of time where you accrue Double XP. The next way is through the Double XP weekend, which is what every player waits for. These give you hours of weapon and regular double XP once you’ve activated them.
The double MW2 XP events are available on all platforms so there’s no need to worry that you don’t have the right console. Once activated, you need to use your MW2 double XP token, so never do it at the end of a session, or you will waste it.
If it’s an external promo, such as Burger King, Mountain Dew, or similar, these usually have their own bespoke URL to redeem your code, but more often than not, these will redirect to some form of redeem page on the Call of Duty website.
