MW2 Ranked Play has been officially announced by Activision-Blizzard and Treyarch Studios. This new competitive mode for Modern Warfare 2 will hopefully bring brand new fans to the series, while still appealing to an older fanbase.

But what has been said about the new mode? What do we officially know?

What Is MW2 Ranked Play?

MW2 Ranked Play is currently due to arrive in the game in 2024 and will deliver the following options according to Treyarch Studios:

• Competitive Modes
• Ranked Skill Divisions
• Visible Skill Ratings
• Top 250 Leaderboard
• Competitive Rewards

It’s not clear exactly how any of these will function, or in what way they’ll be implemented into the game. It’ll be especially interesting to see what type of competitive rewards will end up in the game and if these will appear in the form of exclusive skins or whether fans will get more physical rewards.

Thanks to a leak, the names for all the ranked play skill divisions have leaked and they are as follows:

• Crimson
• Diamond
• Platinum
• Gold
• Silver
• Bronze

What Was The Last COD Game To Have A Competitive Mode?

So the very first Call Of Duty ranked mode came with Call Of Duty Black Ops II back in 2012, with the following games having had a ranking system since then:

• Advanced Warfare (Ranked Mode)
• WWII (Ranked Mode)
• Black Ops Cold War (Ranked Mode)
• COD Mobile (Ranked Mode)
• Vanguard (League Mode)

As you can see, not many of the games since the mode was first introduced have really used the ranked mode system, and a return to actual support for it will be welcomed with open arms by the community at large. Though if previous attempts at returning to this mode are anything to by, then it’s likely Activision-Blizzard and developer Treyarch doesn’t really support it much at all post launch.

Did Modern Warfare 2019 Have a Ranked Play?

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 did not have ranked play in any form, and this would mark the first return to the mode since Call Of Duty Vanguard.
