Modern Warfare 2 gamers who have downloaded Season 3 were in for a nasty surprise when they went on to the Battle Pass map for the first time. Unlike previous seasons, the Battle Pass UI has been tweaked slightly for the latest iteration of MW2 and Warzone – but it’s not going down well.

A large part of that is because it looks ‘squashed’ and ‘goofy’ – and we’d have to agree. Unlike the crisp and clear Battle Pass map in Season 2, Season 3’s looks stretched and unfinished. Characters featuring on the map look distorted and unrealistic.

One gamer wrote on the Modern Warfare 2 sub-Reddit: “It’s so funny that they ruined the one piece of UI in the game that wasn’t half bad lol.” Another added: “They band-aided a linear progression system onto the current map style one, for people who just want to unlock things like in old times. (Are there a lot of these people? I didn’t see many complains about map progression on this sub)

“Yet the linear system can’t be disabled completely for us who want to use the new style. So there you have, a cumbersome interface that constantly asking you to press a key for the map. Oh, and you can tell it’s a last minute addition cause the map aspect ratio was meant for full screen, now it has to be squished to leave space for the linear bar.”

One simply wrote: “This **** looks like a ****** game I played on PS2.”

The Battle Pass and more specifically the BlackCell upgrade has been getting a lot of flack from the community, namely about the pricing. We look into is it actually worth upgrading right here if you’re keen to upgrade or just interested in what’s on offer.

There has been no official word from Activision if they’re going to be upgrading the Battle Pass map, but we’re hoping a hotfix finds its way to the game soon. If not, we’ll be stuck with this map for nearly two months as we wait for the next season of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Our best chance of this being fixed would likely be in the mid-season update, which will finally bring Warzone Ranked to the game.
