With just over a week until NBA 2K23 releases, the hype around the game is increasing. We’ve got you covered on everything we know about “G.O.A.T Boat”

Next up on the announcements is all around “G.O.A.T BOAT”, an integral aspect of the current generation (PS4, Xbox One) multiplayer experience on NBA 2K23.

What is G.O.A.T Boat?

G.O.A.T Boat is NBA 2K23’s neighbourhood for current-generation console users.

The Neighbourhood is an online feature in NBA 2K current-generation games which allows your MyCAREER character to connect with others.

Currently, not much has been leaked around G.O.A.T Boat, however a good indication is it may replicate last year’s ‘Cancha Del Mar’ neighbourhood which was proven a success for NBA 2K22.

NBA 2K22: Cancha Del Mar Neighbourhood

Cancha Del Mar was the first version of a shared, community ship cross on NBA 2K23, which takes inspiration from this year’s “G.O.A.T BOAT”

There’s no surprise that the team at 2K have taken this route, given how successful the roll out was for the current generation consoles.

We wouldn’t be surprised if this year’s 2K23 will follow a similar suit to the Cancha Del Mar cruise ship.

In NBA 2K22 alongside the “Cancha Del Mar’ update, it’ll be interesting to see how this year will differentiate to the previous year.

We’ll cover what was added into this year

• MyCOURT – This feature allowed for fans to build and sculpt their own court. From different murals, styles and scoreboards to choose from, it was completely customisable to your own taste. This is a great way to build your personal court whilst still being allowed to be creative.
• Season Excursions – This feature from the cruise ship allowed you to travel to different places across this globe, this was through updates from 2K themselves. However, each location had their own special rewards. We’ll see if they bring this back for G.O.A.T Boat.
• Game Modes – Another component to the current generation neighbourhood was the variety of modes you could play. This ranged between 3v3s, 2v2s and ProAM. It added a plethora of modes so you don’t end up being bored!

What’s new coming to NBA 2K23 “G.O.A.T Boat”

Environmental Changes

Coming to NBA 2K23’s GOAT Boat will boast a bunch of environmental changes. While keeping the same blueprint of Cancha Del Mar, changes to the environment include:

• New Deck Systems
• The Promenade

2K have also stated this around the environmental changes:

“We wanted to ensure the cruise ship is as accommodating as possible during your stay, so this year we prioritized more game modes and courts, broader lanes and hallways for smoother traversal, and a more centralized Promenade to tie everything together.”

G.O.A.T Boat will also looking to boast new decks, including platinum decks that have a combination of:

• Six 2v2 Courts
• Two 5v5 Courts
• Four Elevators
• Two “Showers” which are server refreshers
• Gatorade Training Facility

• Jordan Challenge
• The REC Lounge

• NBA Store, SWAG’s, Rowe’s Sporting Goods, Docs, The Paint Tattoo, Partnered Stores
• MyTEAM
• The Galleon 1v1

NBA 2K23 will look to bring back excursions with even more season updates to come, with 2K announcing:

“We’re thrilled to announce that we will once again revisit some popular destinations from last year, in addition to taking players to all-new locations in international waters”

Following this, it would be nice to see these features added into this year’s neighbourhood for current generation:

• An improved season excursion – This was a nice addition by 2K, however we needed more frequent trips across the globe! Hopefully 2K23 immerses this better.
• More customisation – MyCOURT was a nice addition to the mode, however this has been a stale addition in the past, the game needs more customisation.
