Rui

From 2K themselves, MyTEAM is described as:

“MyTEAM is the best place to assemble a roster of your favorite NBA players from any era, build your dream lineup, and dominate the competition! Whether you are a casual NBA fan, a card collector, or competitive gamer, MyTEAM is filled with amazing gameplay and experiences that will keep you coming back for more. Play, earn, and craft your way to the top!”

Essentially, it is 2K’s trading card game mode which other publishers boast such as EA with their Ultimate Team.

This is a great mode for offline and online and fans who enjoying curating their own assemble of players to take to the court.

MyTEAM New Additions

Source: 2K Games

In the latest addition to the 2K games, 2K22 – we saw some exciting changes to MyTEAM.

2K22’s MyTEAM looked to supplement the previous edition, 2K21 with updated modes such as triple threat and brand-new event cards.

MyTEAM: Draft

A previous mode that was in NBA 2K17, MyTeam: Draft returned in 2K22.

This is a game mode where you can pick a full lineup of cards in a draft style to where you pick two per position.

Feature packs are latest cards in MyTEAM to which you can draft and compete with, with only three to select.

MyTEAM: Draft is a great mode to grab extra goodies including league packs and other limited items such as Ascension.

Triple Threat Online: The 100

One of MyTEAM’s most popular mode, Triple Threat Online got a new update coming into 2K22.

The 100 gives players 100 points to begin with. But after every game, this may or may not be subtracted.

The more opponents score – the more the 100 gets subtracted, so a larger emphasis on every possession matters this year!

New To NBA 2K23 MyTEAM: No More Contracts

That’s right! You read that correctly. Yesterday evening NBA 2K23 announced that there will no longer be contracts in MyTEAM.

In previous editions, contracts provided a semi-realistic balance of how to manage players you want to use. In other words, it would require you to purchase or apply 3 to 5 game contract consumables that you would give a player in order to use them in MyTEAM.

That said, the change is relieving for loads of fans due to the fact that it would force gamers to have to use them frequently, which all too often became a tedious tendency that many didn’t want to spend valuable coin on.

Seeing that both MLB The Show’s Diamond Dynasty and Madden Ultimate Team don’t use contracts for their online modes, this was a big upgrade for NBA 2K’s next installment as well.

NBA 2K23 ‘MyTEAM’ Features

NBA 2K23 just announced a slew of new features for their MyTEAM online mode. In anticipation of the game, NBA 2K23 has included several changes, and there’s plenty to be excited about. Here’s the full breakdown:

Triple Threat Online: Co-Op – This is huge. For the first time ever, fans will get the opportunity to relish a fresh Co-Op experience in the engaging 3v3 mode. This new add on will not be limited to certain variations of Triple Threat and fans will have the chance to explore it in Party Mode, Co-Op, and Competitive Online.

Unlimited – NBA 2K’s new unlimited feature is a neat one. If you apply yourself and put in the work, the rewards could be endless and what better way to improve your team. Upon reaching the Top Tier, gamers can now start over with their new prestige mode to unlock more rewards. In order to garner points and advance tiers, players must win games, but can lose those points if they fail to win. If a player completes all of the tiers and prestiges, they can unlock a special icon. To add to it, leaderboards have returned and will keep track of the stats from you, friends, and other top players amongst the community.

Clutch Time Single Player – This is pretty much what it sounds like. In short, you will now be able to jump into a single player version of the Clutch Time mode, a fun, fast paced game that offers a 4-point line to shoot from. It gives you a chance to put your best starting five to the test against the AI and see how they fare within a much quicker mode.

Starter Cards – In this year’s NBA 2K MyTEAM, the starter cards available will consist of All Stars Ja Morant, Jimmy Butler, and Joel Embiid. What’s neat about this announcement is that players will get to test try the player they select before confirming their decision on who they want to start with. Moreover, because 2K is quite generous with their incentives, players will receive a 90 overall Amethyst Fred Jones upon playing 10 games within any MyTEAM mode.

Exhibitions – If fans want to improve their lineups, they will now have the option to do so by sending players outside of their 13-player lineup on vacations throughout the world. Upon coming back, those players will return with a special reward based on what they achieved over their vacation.

Trophy Case – If there’s another way you’re looking to get some nice diamond cards in NBA 2K23, the Trophy Case will be a good place for you to start. Each NBA team has a trophy case that comes with 15 event cards, highlighting key moments of their history. Upon completing each of the 15 event cards for all NBA franchises, you can receive a Pink Diamond player from each team.

MyTEAM Unlimited Tournament – To top it off, the NBA 2K23 MyTEAM Unlimited $250,000 Tournament is returning this year for each console generation. To qualify, gamers must reach the Emerald Tier in the new Unlimited before the first GameDay on October 15th, 2022. The Grand Champions will receiver $200,000 and the Console Champions will receive $50,000.

An updated MyTEAM: Draft

Following the success of 2K22’s mode, we could see a revised version in 2K23.

However, it’d be great to see more promotional cards in this game mode which can really diversify draft rosters for players!

Another mode added to Triple Threat

Triple Threat is extremely popular in NBA 2K22, so the chances of a new game mode for triple threat in 2K23 is likely.

That said, what we will see could be more addition to their online section, a popular mode within Triple Threat.

Furthermore, challenges to supplement the offline community could be in the works too, to add a plethora of challenges to keep it refreshed.

Stay tuned for the latest MyTEAM news and updates.
