Resources are absolutely essential in New World, contributing dramatically to levelling your character, and creating all-important items needed to progress. Resources are split into three categories – gathering, refining, and crafting with each doing a specific job. Some gathering resources include stone, ore, animal hide, whereas refined resources are ingots, gemstones, leather, and more. However, these aren’t always easy to spot so having the ability to track New World resources is a necessity.
It’s not automatically clear how to track resources in New World due to there being various prerequisites and levels needed. Today, we’ll be teaching you all so that you can go out and gather all the resources you’d like quickly and efficiently.
How to track resources in New World
As previously mentioned, gaining the ability to track resources requires you to level in other areas beforehand. Once done so, you should be able to track resources via the compass at the top of your screen, allowing you to make your way over to them instantly. So, if you’re wondering how to track iron in New World or any other resources in the game, this should help you.
Below, we’ve listed all of the levels needed for unlocking resource tracking as well as what resources they correspond to.
New World Resource Tracking Requirements

| Ironwood | Tracking is unlocked at level 175 in Logging. |
| Iron | Tracking is unlocked at level 25 in Mining. |
| Silver | Tracking is unlocked at level 35 in Mining. |
| Oil | Tracking is unlocked at level 45 in Mining. |
| Gold | Tracking is unlocked at level 70 in Mining. |
| Alchemy Stones | Tracking is unlocked at level 75 in Mining. |
| Star metal | Tracking is unlocked at level 125 in Mining. |
| Lodestone | Tracking is unlocked at level 155 in Mining. |
| Platinum | Tracking is unlocked at level 135 in Mining. |
| Orichalcum | Tracking is unlocked at level 200 in Mining. |
| Small Prey | Tracking is unlocked at level 25 in Tracking and Skinning. |
| Medium Prey | Tracking is unlocked at level 50 in Tracking and Skinning. |
| Large Prey | Tracking is unlocked at level 75 in Tracking and Skinning. |
| Small Predator | Tracking is unlocked at level 125 in Tracking and Skinning, |
| Large Predator | Tracking is unlocked at level 175 in Tracking and Skinning, |
| Farm Plants | Tracking is unlocked at level 20 in Harvesting. |
| Hemp | Tracking is unlocked at level 25 in Harvesting. |
| Magical Creatures | Tracking is unlocked at level 175 in Harvesting. |
| Magical Plants | Tracking is unlocked at level 45 in Harvesting. |
| Silkweed | Tracking is unlocked at level 125 in Harvesting. |
| Wirefiber | Tracking is unlocked at level 200 in Harvesting |
