New World is now live, allowing players to log in and create their characters on their destination server of choice. However, many people are experiencing a New World block screen after creating a character. The good news is that this is not really an issue but rather a bug due to the game trying to log your character onto a full server.
New World black screen after character creation
The New World black screen issue is a very common issue when you make your character. Upon launching the game and making a character in one of your two character slots, you will choose a server to house them on. Once that is decided, you will then design your character to your specifications and name them as you will. After that, you will then try to log in to your character and proceed to the server.
However, this is where the New World black screen after character creation occurs. Due to the popularity of New World’s launch, every single European server is currently experiencing login queues. This is when the black screen occurs. The game automatically tries to throw your character into a full server, and it takes some time before the game realizes this and puts you onto the main menu with a server login queue.
When you’re stuck on the black screen, all you need to do is wait out the issue. It will eventually resolve itself. However, if you are getting a black screen issue anytime other than during the above instance, then it could indicate other issues. If you are experiencing these issues elsewhere, then you should refer to the New World help page.
We have not yet heard of any other black screen issue in New World other than after creating a character. If you do have an issue, let us know, so we can continue to report on issues to help other players out with their issues.
