Chivalry 2 takes you back to the medieval period, with valiant knights, footmen and cowardly archers all on the battlefield. However, Chivalry 2 allows for plenty of customization options, allowing you to play the game dressed in swanky, or a lack of armor in some places. In some instances, you may find that your class of choice will allow you not to wear a helmet, but that does that impact the game. Below you will find the answers to how having no helmet works in Chivalry 2.

Can you have no helmet in Chivalry 2?

The answer to that question is yes, you can, and no – it all depends on the class you play. For example, the Knight class does not allow you to not wear any armour at all on the helmet, but every other class no matter what faction you play can have no helmet on. In the case of the knight, having no helmet instead replaces it with a chainmail coif that foes over the character, rather than a big metal knight helmet instead.

To remove the helmet from your character, you need to head to the Armory tab and press customization. Then go to the class you want to edit for each faction, then click the helmet tab at the top of the screen and then press no helmet. IT should then take the helmet off your class, and replace a Knight’s helmet with a chain coif.

The good news is removing a helmet from your class does not affect the damage you take. The armor rating in the game is class-based, meaning that weapons will do damage based on how armored the class is by default, along with if the weapon does more damage based on penning certain armor types or even travel time.

It means if you want to wear no helmet on your Chivalry 2 class then you do not need to, nor be punished by it. So feel free to make your character look what you want it to look based on the options you have unlocked. It isn’t like Mordhau in that sense that different tiered helmets offer different armors stats. In Mordhau, wearing no helmet, a light, medium or heavy helmet provides different stats.  It is worth knowing if you’re finally picking up Chivalry 2 on Steam, and have been playing Mordhau more recently and are confused between the two games.
