Overwatch 2’s size is 22.5 GB when the game was downloaded on 6th October. However, as mentioned before, this can grow in further updates. As of last year, Overwatch 1 was 20GB after years of being updated and played, so the base download size for the sequel has already surpassed that.

That’s why, on Blizzard’s official system requirements page, they in fact recommend over double the original file size! Blizzard advises that Overwatch 2 users should have at least 50 GB of available hard drive space before downloading the game.

It doesn’t appear that console users won’t be affected as much as PC gamers. The game is in fact only 30 GB on Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

The long answer is still yes, but with a few caveats. Akin to similar games of this ilk such as Apex Legends and Fortnite, you’ll be able to purchase a battle pass for the game. This battle pass will allow you to unlock customization options and new characters along the way.
