Blizzard has confirmed some really exciting news about changes to the map pool following Season 2 on the 6th December 2022. Whilst we’ve heard all about the Season 2 Battle pass, skins, rewards and other goodies, let’s not forget about the map pool changes!

Overwatch 2 Season 2 map pool changes

Firstly, a new map in Shambali Monastery will be opened up. This will serve as both a new escort map, but also as home of Zenyatta and new omnic tank, Ramattra.

This is news along with some changes to the map pool seasonal change, which is sure to bring some change to the environment of some maps. Oasis and Nepal are staying in the pool, but the season two teaser post promises that players will visit these maps at different times of the day, hinting that we might be getting night-time variants for these maps. Exciting stuff.

Not only this, but Hollywood and Watchpoint: Gibraltar will be removed from the competitive and unrated map pools but are still available in custom games.

Overwatch 2 Season 2 returning OW1 maps

Back into the limelight will spring both Rialto and Blizzard World, along with the game’s second season releasing on December 6. Rialto and Blizzard World, being fan favourites from the first game, are expected to make a comeback in Season 2.

Rialto, a great Escort map from Overwatch 1, was instantly disabled for both competitive and unranked play in Overwatch 2. Blizzard World will also be sporting some new weather effects now it’s back.
