Pinocchio told too many lies? – Lies of P announced at Summer Games Fest

Hasn’t it always been a lifelong dream for fans to play as a little puppet with no strings to hold you down, to make you fret or make you frown? Well now is your chance, developer NEOWIZ has transformed the fantasy tale of Pinocchio into a beautifully terrifying-looking game.

Lies of P seems to have a small hint of other dark fantasy games to it, with its dark monstrous creatures and ominous lighting.

Summer Games Fest 2023 – Lies of P announced

This game has been teased for a while but Summer Games Fest 2023 has finally given us a release date of September 19, 2023, ready for us to drop into the horrifying world of Krat, a once lively place that has been poisoned by madness and bloodlust. How will you survive as a poor awakened little puppet? Or is there something more sinister afoot?

We are waiting to find out what Pinocchio has to do with this all, but it’s a smart story to make a game on. Pinocchio may seem light hearted because of Disney, but the idea of a wooden puppet coming to life is easy to make a terrifying game out of.

You are a puppet created by Geppetto who’s caught in a web of lies with unimaginable monsters and untrustworthy figures standing between you and the events that have befallen the world of Lies of P.

You are awakened by a mysterious voice that guides you through the plagued city of Krat – a once lively place that has been poisoned by madness and bloodlust. In our soulslike, you must adapt yourself and your weapons to face untold horrors, untangle the unfathomable secrets of the city’s elites and choose whether to confront predicaments with the truth or weave lies to overcome them on the journey to find yourself.

We assume that there will be more coming out in the future as the game gets closer to release, but from what we can see, there has been a lot put into this game. This is a soulslike, so we expect a lot of trial and error for players and a good deal of fear from the game world. We also expect an exciting story, because soulslikes are known for their stories and how well they tell them.

In a post from the Lies of P dev team mention the push back of their release date through steam, they announce that “We have been pushing hard towards our initial release window but had to make this difficult decision to ensure the most optimal gameplay experience by further polishing the game. It may be a huge disappointment for our fans who have been eagerly waiting for the full release. As a little compensation, we have prepared a brand-new trailer and a playable Demo”

Are you ready to discover the world of Lies of P? What other classic fairy tales do you think would make fun horror games? (The answers is all of them if you’ve read the Grimm’s versions.)
