Big, burly Avalugg doesn’t require you to circle strafe around it to deal with it and your Pokemon will actually sit atop a cliff to basically spit in its face repeatedly when you finally get round to battle it.

This is part of our ongoing Pokemon Legends: Arceus guide series, with everything to do with the game and more – including Pokemon Go – all living in our dedicated hubs for the games

Ice is the hint here, so fire is your friend. That should actually deal with Avalugg on a battle premise quite quickly, but its the dealing with him before that which can be a pain.

Between the giant laser, the incoming home balls of ice and the spikes that spawn just in the place to ensure you’re pushed back so you can’t hit him, Avalugg really doesn’t want anything to do with you.

You’ll find that you’ll be best off just taking the hint and avoiding these attacks, then going in between dodges with the balms. The main issue is that these happen at such a frequent basis that you’ll be best off just being patient than anything.

The big laser can be dodged through, while the snowballs can be avoided by standing in the top corner of the cliff face. The spikes you’ll want to dodge backwards from.

Your goal, if you’re not great with dodging, is to throw as many of the balms as possible and ensure you bring it down to halfway. This way, if you happen to blackout, you’ll be able to restart from the halfway mark by choosing to continue the battle.
