As we’re sure you’re aware by now, Pokemon Legends: Arceus is somewhat of a new direction for the franchise, utilizing a Breath of the Wild, open-world approach to create a more tailor-made adventure that you can fully influence.

Along with changes to the main structure of the title, there have also been big shake-ups in the mechanics you’re probably used to. For example, throwing Pokeballs to catch Pokemon so you can fill up that all-important Pokedex, has taken a deviation. Evolving Pokemon has changed too, and below, we’re going to take you through the evolution process in Pokemon Legends: Arceus so you don’t get caught out when the time comes.

How to evolve Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

As stated above, you’re going to be looking at a whole new system for Pokemon evolution. First off, you won’t be getting surprised by a shock ‘what? X pokemon is evolving’ screen, and fortunately, you won’t have to deny a Pokemon’s evolution after every level if you wish to keep it in its current form.

So, how do you evolve Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus? Well, you’ll still need to level up your Pokemon as normal but instead of it catching you off guard, you need to go into your Satchel and choose if or when you want the Pokemon to evolve.

Here are the steps as bullet points for the full process:

• Level up your Pokemon via battling
• Open your Satchel
• Choose the Pokemon that is ready to evolve
• Press the evolve option

And there we have it, you can now evolve Pokemon to your heart’s content and also specifically choose when rather than mashing that B button any time your Pokemon gains a level.

Even though this change does take the mystery out of when Pokemon evolve we think it’s a much better process overall, especially since you don’t have to decline that evolution after every level if you want to keep it as is.
