As Pokemon Legends: Arceus allows you to journey through the vast vistas of the Hisui region, it can become a little tedious travelling one place to another on foot time and time again. Not only with those fingers hurt constantly pressing down that left stick to sprint, but it just takes far too long over large distances.
Fortunately, there are other options for making your way through the various parts of Hisui such as Instant Travel or simply picking the camp that is closer to your destination from the get go. However, these don’t allow you to catch Pokemon in the process so an alternative may be required.
This is where the ability to ride Pokemon comes in and there are no indicators when you star the game when or what is needed to do so. Below, there are all the steps you need to take to ride Pokemon as well as any prerequisites.
How to ride Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
If you want to get around Hisui quicker but still want to experience bumping into various Pokemon along the way, your best bet is to ride a noble steed. Riding a Pokemon might also be the only way to reach your desired destination so it might even be essential based on where you are in the game.
To ride Pokemon, you have to progress far enough to please Wyrdeer. This is just past the point of the game where you set up camp at Deertrack Heights so if you’ve not made it there yet, you’re going to need to get doing some research tasks.
If you have made it to this point, you’ll meet with Diamond Clan members who are sufficiently happy with your relationship with Wyrdeer and offer you the chance to call upon this highly praised Pokemon.
After the cutscene between these characters plays out, you’ll be given the Celestica Flute which can summon Wyrdeer at will for you to mount and ride around at any point. To do this, simply press the + button and you’ll instantly be on Wyrdeer’s back ready to swiftly roam.
Without going into too much detail, there are more Pokemon that you’ll be able to mount and ride as your progress further in the game for both land and air. To choose which Pokemon you want to ride, the game will either automatically detect which is best or you can switch between them with the directional pad.
