Pokemon Legends: Arceus is finally here and it takes you right back to the good old times where Pokemon are running free in the lands of Hisui. It is your task, however, to create the world’s first Pokedex so catching and recording those Pokemon is the name of the game. With a bunch of fan favorites and new variations of classic ‘mons, you’re going to be hard at work throwing Poke Balls at any moving object you see.
As Pokemon Legends: Arceus doesn’t exactly follow the traditional Pokemon mechanics though, throwing Poke Balls has changed also. Below, we’ll take you through what you need to do to get your catching equipment ready to fill up that Pokedex as soon as possible.
How to throw Poke Balls in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Due to a change in the formula compared to the mainline Pokemon games, Legends: Arceus utilizes a different approach to catching those creatures you sorely desire. Instead of mashing that A button to get into your bag and selecting your desired Pokeball, there’s a much more fluid process in play this time around.
To throw a Poke Ball in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, to hopefully catch those all important Pokemon, simply hold down ZR, whether that be on your Joy-con or paired controller, aim with the right stick, and let go of ZR when the desired Pokemon is in your sights. This will all be done in real-time and you can move around in the process so no stop-start, static catching here.
When in battle, however, the traditional catching method is in play so head into your items, select your desired Poke Ball and use it on the Pokemon you want to catch.
And that’s all there is to it, no having to go through various options to select a Poke Ball while roaming Hisui, just carry on running around, get the perfect angle and throw those balls in one swift motion!
