Tapu Bulu is the third Alolan Island guardian to make its Pokémon GO debut in the Season of Alola. Following the pattern of the Alolan islands as Trainers first experience them, An Ula’Ula Adventure is next up, with Ula’Ula Island the third Alolan island to visit. As such, Tapu Bulu is making its debut as part of the Season of Alola’s Spring into Spring event, appearing in raids from April 12, 2022. Here, we’ll take a look at the new Pokémon’s stats, movesets, and the best Tapu Bulu counters to take into battle against it.

Tapu Bulu is, as all four Island Guardians are, a Fairy type Pokémon. However, they are all dual-type Pokémon, and Tap Bulu’s second type is Grass. As you might know from the anime, The Land Spirit Pokémon Tapu Bulu is able to manipulate and grow trees and other vegetation quickly, giving its own power to the land around it.

Best Tapu Bulu counters in Pokémon GO

With Tapu Bulu being a Fairy and Grass-type Pokémon, the best type to take into battle is Poison, since Poison-type moves are super-effective against both of Tapu Bulu’s types. From there, you can consider Fire, Flying and Ice-type moves for the best effectiveness, then Steel or Bug as a last resort for the best Tapu Bulu counters.

Can Tapu Bulu be shiny in Pokémon GO?

As with the previous two Island Guardians, Tapu Bulu cannot be shiny as of its introduction into Pokémon GO. We will no doubt get a chance to encounter shiny Tapu Bulu – as well as the other Alolan deities – in the future, but we’ll likely have to wait until long after the Season of Alola.
