Icicle Spear Pokemon Go’s newest move

A new move is coming to Pokemon Go, Icicle Spear will be available for Walrein to learn during Spheal's Community Day.

As we finish this year off with a very anti-climatic poof, we turn our heads towards 2022. Perhaps a better year, or equally possible, it could be worse. At this point, there’s no telling nor should we anticipate. However, one of the few constants and more cheerful things to look forward to each day is a few hours of Pokemon Go. And as we tread towards the near year, so do we tread towards new events, new Pokemon, and – recently announced – new moves.

As was announced the Spheal Community Day, so was the addition of a new of a new move that Spheal’s final evolution Walrein can learn.

Walrein Best Moveset

So you’ve got yourself a good Spheal, with good stats and you’ve evolved it into a Walrein. So what are the best movesets for it?

The best moves for Walrein are Waterfall and Blizzard when attacking Pokémon in Gyms. This move combination has the highest total DPS and is also the best moveset for PVP battles.

Is Icicle Spear any good?

Making its Pokémon GO debut, this low-energy Charged Attack will be sure to make Walrein shine! As you can see Icicle Spear does more damage than Walrein’s normally recommended charged attack. Although it is a bit slow to charge up, but so is Blizzard. So it’s worth swapping these two out.

• Trainer Battles: 60 damage
• Gyms and raids: 60 damage

Walrein Weaknesses and Counters

To make sure you know what to go up against, you need to know who to not go up against. Here are Walrein’s weaknesses:

• Fighting
• Electric
• Grass
• Rock

Whereas, almost to be expected, Walrein is strong and resistant towards other Water and Ice type Pokemon.
