The trainer outfits from Pokémon Platinum will be available in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl for a small window of time after the Gen 4 remakes are released this November.

Pokémon Platinum told the same story as Diamond and Pearl, but also had several quality of life updates. Strangely, it also shifted the time of year that the game took place in slightly, and put the playable trainers in more winter appropriate clothing, complete with warm jackets and scarves.

If you want to get your hands on the exclusive cosmetics that remind you of the third version not getting its own remake, you’ll need to do the following steps:

You don’t actually have to do much to get the Pokémon Platinum outfits in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. You’ll only get a Platinum outfit associated with the character you’ve chosen to play as, so choose wisely.

  • Buy a copy of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl before February 22, 2022, and unlock the Mystery Gift feature. This will be around two hours in, when you get to the TV Center in Jubilife City.
  • Open the Mystery Gift menu.
  • Find the “Get via Internet” option and claim the Platinum outfit.
  • It will download, and you can now select it from the clothing menu.

You’ll be able to grab the outfits at any time within three months after Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl’s release. It will stop being available on February 22, 2022, so you’ll want to grab it as soon as you can. You don’t need to have Nintendo Switch Online to use the Mystery Gift feature, so as long as you have a working internet connection then you’ll be fine.
