The Mexican holiday, Dia de Muertos, is coming to Pokemon Go. ‘The Day of the Dead’ is holiday celebrated in Mexico and other parts of the Americas that honours the lives and the memory of friends and family who have moved on to another world.
As part of this event, we’ll be seeing a variety of things happening. All of which are meant to honour or celebrate the Day of the Dead! In this article, we’ll quickly go over all you need to know about the event.
When is Dia de Muertos?
Monday, November 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time
Event Bonuses
During Dia de Muertos, there will be various bonuses to look forward to.
All players can expect the following during this special event:
- Lure modules will last for 90 minutes.
- x2 Catch Stardust
- Incense will last for 90 minutes.
While trainers in Latin America and the Caribbean can also expect:
- +1 Bonus Transfer Candy
- Featured event Pokemon will be attracted to Incense more.
- Event Pokemon will be appearing in the wild more.
- Event Pokemon will be attracted to Lure modules more.
Collection challenge
Another part of this event will involve a new challenge! The Día de Muertos Collection Challenge will be available during this event. Once completed, you’ll be able to encounter a Shedinja and also be awarded a Poffin and an Incense.
GO Battle Day
For one day, during this special event, you’ll get 4x the Stardust from wins in the Battle league. So get your best Pokemon ready for Monday, November 1, 2021, from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. local time.

Wild encounters
During Dia de Muertos, certain Pokemon will be appearing more frequently in the wild. These will also be lured in by Lure modules and Incense.

- Murkrow
- Houndour
- Sableye
- Roselia
- Sunflora
- Drifloon
- Yamask
You might also be able to encounter an Alolan Marowak using incenses and lures.
November Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour
On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, Cacnea, will be in the spotlight. You’ll also benefit from 2x catch candy bonus for Cacneas.
