Shiny hunting is one of the game mechanics still keeping Trainers going nearly seven years into Pokémon GO’s lifespan. With many Trainers who have been around since the game’s inception in 2016 having completed or near-completed their Pokédex, completing a shiny-dex is one of things keeping them coming back every day. As such, we need to keep track of which Pokémon are actually available in their shiny forms as, unlike the mainline console games, they’re introduced sporadically, usually during special events. So let’s find out if Lion Cub Litleo, and its evolution Pyroar, can be shiny in Pokémon GO.

Litleo the Lion Cub Pokémon

Litleo and its evolution, the Royal Pokémon Pyroar, were introduced to Pokémon GO in December 2020 as part of the Kalos Celebration event. Since then, it has only been available in its original form as its shiny variation had not been added to the game’s data. Litleo has also been relatively rare, only appearing mostly in other events, such as November’s Festival of Lights and 2021’s Lunar New Year event.

Shiny Pyroar is also available as of February 1st, 2022, so you will be able to evolve shiny Litleo into shiny Pyroar using 50 candies – if you’re lucky enough to catch one in the first place.
