With January coming in, so did Slugma’s Shiny debut. The little lava slug was added to the game, as well as Macargo during the Mountains of Power event. With a new January Raid Schedule and the powerful Mega Aerodactyl taking on the Mega Raids, players were treated with an assortment of Pokemon Go goodies.

But what a lot of players got excited about was a fun little glitch that affected Slugma, giving it a new ‘look’ that could easily have been mistaken as a Shiny. User, Liidero, was the first to show off their new ‘black’ Slugma. The new form was only as a result of texture errors and faulty loadings.

As much as players would love for more alternative colours to shinies, it’s not something we think will happen in Pokemon. At least not any time soon. And as expected, this ‘glitched’ Slugma didn’t last long, with Liidero saying that their Slugma returned to its normal red colour shortly after. Nonetheless, it was a fun little bug that also garnered a series of funny comments:

The united states government would like to know your location”

“Bro they burned my soup😭”
