One of the most fascinating parts of NICKMERCS and TimTheTatman getting a skin is that Scump didn’t get one. OpticScump is one of the longest-playing pros in the Call of Duty Esports scene and has recently retired after a successful career.

Many call him the king of Call of Duty thanks to his many wins.

Yet, when it came time to make someone a skin, he was passed up for two streamers who arguably are not as synonymous with Call of Duty. NICKMERCS actively avoids the game while TimTheTatman would rather spectate than play it himself.

Scump finally opened up and said why he was passed over for a skin.

Why didn’t Scump get a Call of Duty skin?

Finally, after being badgered by many viewers, Scump acknowledged the situation on stream. They’re more popular with a much larger audience, and Scump is well-known to those who play the game and watch the esports tournaments. You can see the response to the tweet from the Call Of Duty League Clips Twitter.

To quote Scump exactly:

“To be honest it does not bother me. Those guys are very good streamers, they’ve done a very good job at what they do… Those guys appeal to a different audience… I can’t even be mad.”

When asked if he thought it was disrespectful, he said that he didn’t think Activision even cared. He said that Activision wasn’t a person, it was a business and implied that they were doing what was smart for the business.

It does make sense, as TimTheTatman and NICKMERCS have a wider audience, but they play other games or are less synonymous with the game than someone like Scump. Many more Call of Duty fans were questioning why Dr DisRespect didn’t get his own skin.

The Doc worked on the franchise as a developer and is far more well-known for Call of Duty than Tim or Nick, but it may be because he often says the game is boring.

This shows there many be many reasons why Nick and Tim were chosen, and why people like Scump were not. Still, it’s strange to think about all the people Activision didn’t pick.
