Slime Rancher 2 is almost here. The original title was a cult-classic first-person farming sim/adventure game. This sequel promises to be even bigger and more polished than the first.

Slime Rancher 2 early access Release Date

We already know that the Slime Rancher 2 release date is 22 September 2022. It’s important to note that this will be the early access release, much like the first game had.

In all likelihood, we can expect Slime Rancher 2 to be in EA for at least 18 months. The developers released this information via the game’s official Steam page.

The first game had a much shorter transition, with the original EA release in July 2016 followed by a full release in August 2017. It’s possible that the long period of early access for Slime Rancher 2 is due to an increase in scope.

We’ve already received two different Slime Rancher 2 trailers over the past year or so. The Slime Rancher 2 Announcement Trailer – YouTube shown off by Xbox during E3 2021.

This initial trailer was brief, showing around a minute of some gameplay with a few new slime types to check out. Luckily, we received a more in-depth gameplay trailer in June 2022, once again hosted by Xbox.

You can check out the new gameplay trailer for yourself above. It shows off a bunch of the new slimes you can find and the new focus of an island filled with mysterious natural resources for you to discover.

Slime Rancher 2 Gameplay Details

Just like the first game, the main crux of the gameplay in Slime Rancher 2 is going to be raising and breeding different slimes. You’ll also have to explore the land to discover new areas with hidden secrets.

One of the most appealing changes coming to Slime Rancher 2 seems to be a more streamlined suction tool. You use this tool to pick up slimes, food, and pretty much everything else. The new model looks a lot fancier in the trailer, and will hopefully come with some mechanical upgrades as well.

The new areas you’ll get to explore seem like they’re filled with more puzzles than last time around too. There’s a big focus on making the environments more expansive and varied compared with the first game.

Is Slime Rancher Coming To Xbox Game Pass?

With all of the trailers being showcased by Xbox, it’s not unreasonable to wonder if the partnership extends beyond advertising. As you can probably expect, Slime Rancher 2 is coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one.

That means if you subscribe to Game Pass, you’ll be able to play the game as soon as it comes out without any extra fees. Unfortunately, you can’t pre-load Slime Rancher 2 on your Xbox, at least not right now. Plenty of other games coming to Game Pass let you install the game before it comes out to reduce your waiting time on release day.

There’s a possibility that the game could be added to Game Pass closer to launch, but we’re only a couple of weeks out. Most games with a pre-load option are available months in advance.
