If you’re a fan of dabbling behind the scenes in the latest and greatest games then it’s likely that Sons of the Forest console commands and cheats might be on your mind. And the great news is that, just like in the first game, The Forest, there are plenty of commands to take advantage of.

Such console commands and cheats can allow you to mod or change the game to your will – though you may have to rely on an external cheat mod or table. From ensuring Kelvin has a massive head to spawning items, Sons of the Forest console commands could augment your experience this year.

However, the headline here, thus far, is that there are some Sons of the Forest console commands, but no official Sons of the Forest cheats. If you’re up for exploring what you can and might be able to do, though, read on, as your current options aren’t too bad – especially given the game is in early access only.

Sons of the Forest Single player commands

You might be surprised to know that there is a Sons of the Forest single-player console, you just need this cheat table to access it. If you’re still keen on breaking the game or enjoying the most out of it, you can download the cheat table Here and have some fun to your heart’s content

Sons of the forest cheat engine

Surprisingly even just a few hours after the launch a Sons of the Forest cheat table already exists. So once you already have the engine installed, you can have some fun with the new in-game console.

The table includes cheats of God Mode and Undead Mode, as well as a LocalPlayer pointer. Adding some of the options previously available in the prequel. But you don’t have to use it for cheats, you can use it to gain access to the currently locked in-game console.

Let’s pick out just a few of them which we think would be the most fun to play around with. There are plenty more to find once you have access to this menu yourself – way too many to explain here.

Useful player cheats

  • buffstats – Refills your hunger, thirst, and stamina gauges.
  • cavelight on – Lights up the area around you.
  • instantbookbuild on – Instantly builds anything you select from the ‘blueprints’ book.
  • superjump on – Jump higher with a super jump.
  • speedyrun on – Increases your running speed.
  • settimeofday [1-24] – Change the time of day to an hour of your choice.
  • locktimeofday morning – The time of day will always be morning.
  • season [winter, spring, summer, autumn] – Change the season to the one of your liking.

Useful NPC cheats

  • addcharacter robby 1 – Spawn an additional Kelvin. (Build a Kelvin army!)
  • addvirginia – Spawn an additional Virginia.
  • aigodmode on – Turns on godmode for companions.
  • aishowthoughts on – This displays AI paths and their thoughts/logic.

Useful enemy cheats

  • aighostplayer on – Enemies will now ignore you.
  • aipause – This freezes all AI, companions and enemies included.
  • aishowhealth – Displays the health of all AI.
  • killradius [number] – Instantly kills everything within a given range of you.

Many of the commands that let you toggle a cheat on let you toggle it back off with the same command, instead replacing ‘on’ with ‘off’ – simple as that!

NOTE: Cheating is wrong. We do not condone it, especially in multiplayer games. Use cheats at your own risk.

Sons of the forest Server console commands

There are a large number of console commands you can enter when running the multiplayer server. These are conditions that change the way the game is played, to make it easier or more difficult if you wish.

The console commands are entered by pressing the enter button to prompt the chat box and then typing a command after the “/” key. The forward slash tells the game that it’s not just a chat message that you’re entering, it’s a command.

Here’s a list of most of the Sons of the Forest console commands for multiplayer games.

  • /allowbuildingdestruction – Allows you to destroy structures.
  • /allowenemiescreative – Allows you to spawn enemies in creative mode.
  • /ban [steam id] – Bans a Steam user from your server.
  • /closelogs – Closes the logs.
  • /help – Shows you all the console commands.
  • /kick [steam id] – Kicks a user from your server.
  • /openlogs – Shows the logs.
  • /restart – Restart the entire server, wiping user information and saving.
  • /save [slot number 1-5] – Saves the game in a particular save slot.
  • /shutdown – Shut down the server.
  • /treeregrowmode – Regrows 10% of all cut-down trees when players are sleeping.
  • allowCheats [on/off] – Enables the ability to use the console commands and cheats.
  • configfilepath – Chooses the path where all the server info is saved.
  • difficulty [Peaceful/Normal/Hard/HardSurvival] – Allows you to set the difficulty.
  • realisticPlayerDamage [on/off] – Enabling this will make players take more damage, especially in PvP. Damage is determined by the weapon they’re using.
  • resetHolesMode [on/off] – If turned on, this command will remove all holes in every building.
  • saveFolderPath – Chooses the path for where all the server saves go.
  • targetFpsActive [FPS] – Allows you to set a frame cap to the server.
  • targetFpsIdle [FPS] – Set a frame cap for inactive players.
  • veganMode [on/off] – Removes all enemies in “on” mode, and returns them back in “off” mode.

Credit to Gamepur for listing all the commands.

Enter any of these commands at any time during the multiplayer session to execute the command. These commands do not work in single-player games. You have to use the cheat table method above to unlock the console in single-player.

What console commands does The Forest have?

If you’re looking back and wondering what the potential commands might be if they are added to the game then we see what The Forest has to offer. This list is for activating in the main menu.

  • ironforest- Buildings are indestructible.
  • meatmode- Disables all cheats.
  • rawmeatmode- Implements permanent death, when the player dies, the save game is erased.
  • regrowmode- 10% of all fallen trees will regrow while you sleep, if the tree stump is still there.
  • veganmode- Only enemies will appear in caves.
  • vegetarianmode- Enemies only appear at night time.
  • woodpaste- Resets all the holes made by the hole cutter and crane.

There are also further console commands to run in the game. These include builder mode, god mode, speedy run, and more that you can find on The Forest wiki.

Should I use cheats in Sons of the Forest?

We don’t recommend diving into your first playthrough of Sons of the Forest and immediately jump to cheating the system. Most people would argue that’s no fun – and we’d have to agree. Most people use cheats once they’ve exhausted the regular content within the game. At the end of the day though, it’s all up to you.

Cheats have long been a feature of games – including the likes of console classics such as GoldenEye 007. Almost nostalgic ‘cheats’ such as big head mode are immediately included within the the options of Sons of the Forest, but there are many more to make use of.

How do I enable console commands in Sons of the Forest?

As hinted at above, it is deceptively simple to get access to and enable Sons of the Forest console commands. All you need to do is press F1 after you’ve loaded a save or a new game. This will bring up a menu and you can enter the codes or commands here. Press F1 to close it again, and you’re off!
