If Kraven could hunt for some Spider-Man 2 PS5 gameplay footage for us, that'd be rad.

After the Wolverine trailer at the PlayStation 5 showcase, people watching were led to believe that the sequel to Spider-Man (2018) on PS4 from Insomniac Games would be a long way off. Sony knew exactly what they were doing however, and it wasn’t long before we were surprised with a first look at Spider-Man 2 on the PS5.
The trailer showed off a new costume for Miles Morales, as well as hints at villain Kraven the Hunter and a first look at symbiote powered lethal protector Venom. Sadly, it was light on any actual gameplay or any real idea of what makes the new game unique.
Venom made his debut as ‘the alien costume’ in The Amazing Spider-Man #252 (May, 1984), which was a flash-forward past an event called Secret Wars which revealed that he got the costume from a machine on another planet after being abducted by an alien called The Beyonder.
After discovering the costume was alive and that the symbiotic life form was bonding with him, he ditched the suit. It teamed up with a man called Eddie Brock that resented Spider-Man and the pair became the villain Venom.
So far in the Insomniac Spider-Man video games it has been hinted that Harry Osborn will be the new Venom. There is precedent for this, as he briefly hosted the Venom symbiote in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon. In the games, it is seemingly being used to help him with a disease, which is a plot that borrows elements from both the Amazing Spider-Man film franchise and Ultimate Spider-Man #33-99.
Kraven the Hunter, or Sergei Kravinoff, was created by original Spider-Man creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko all the way back in Amazing Spider-Man #15 (August, 1964). He is one of the best sport hunters on Marvel Earth, and often thinks that Spider-Man would be an appropriate challenge for his masterful hunting abilities. He believes in a code of honor, and sometimes even treats Spider-Man as an ally.
Kraven is one of the most famous Spider-Man characters, and was the antagonist of the iconic 1987 storyline Kraven’s Last Hunt by J. M. DeMatteis and Mike Zeck, which this game also seems to be adapting. Insomniac Games are spinning a lot of plates!
Spider-Man 2 (not Spiderman 2, hyphens are important, just ask writer Dan Slott) has a soft release date of 2023. Hopefully this means that the game will be huge and feature even more of New York, as it will have been five years since the first Spider-Man game on PS4.
Spider-Man 2’s trailer showed no gameplay, but we expect it will be a lot like Spider-Man on PS4 and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Some people are hoping for co-op, with the focus on both of the Spider-Men in the trailer. Others hope that we’ll get to play as anti-hero Venom, like in Ultimate Spider-Man on PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox.
Spider-Man 2 is a PS5 exclusive. While Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy’s Big Adventure, Gran Turismo 7 and God of War Ragnarok were all announced as PlayStation 5 exclusives, they’ve all since made their way onto the PlayStation 4. We don’t think a cross-gen port is likely for Spider-Man 2, but it could happen. If it does, we’ll let you know.
