Many fans of the Star Wars games will currently be playing the sequel to Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order – Jedi Survivor. However, the launch of Survivor has not been without its issues. In fact, EA has this week been forced to make a statement admitting the game is not performing to their ‘standards’, in particular on PC.

In the statement, EA acknowledged there will be fixes coming to the game, but explained: “… there is no single, comprehensive solution for PC performance..”. The statement also says each fix will require ‘significant testing’ before it is rolled out – so we may well be waiting a bit longer before Jedi Survivor receives a major update. As of yet, we do not have a time frame.

A day one patch refers to the first download file added to the game that is required to download, it’s usually due to stability fixes that the developers get around sending out to players after their own testing. So when is the patch coming? Here’s everything you need to know.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Patch notes fixes for PC and Consoles

5/1 Patch for PC

PC users are only getting a Ray Tracing issue fixed on May 1, and there is no word on any PC fixes for May 2. This will leave many fans disappointed, as PC had more bugs than its console counterpart.

5/2 Patch for Consoles

These are all that is fixed on May 2 for Jedi: Survivor:

  • Multiple crashes fixed across PlayStation and Xbox Series XIS and various areas of the game.
  • Fixed crashes that were tied to skipping cinematics.
  • Performance improvements across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series XIS.
  • Fixed an issue with dynamic cloth inside the Mantis.
  • Fixed various rendering issues.
  • Performance improvements for non-raytraced rendering.
  • Fixed an issue with registered Nekko colors not saving.
  • Fixed an issue with registered Nekko disappearing from the stable.
  • Fixed issues with cinematic dialogue overlapping.
  • Fixed various collision issues.
  • Fixed an issue with enemy Al remaining in T Pose during photo mode.
  • Fixed a freeze that occasionally occurred while talking to Doma.
  • Fixed a bug where the BD-oil VFX did not properly render.
  • Fixed an issue where players were getting stuck inside the Chamber of Duality if you didn’t save
  • after leaving the chamber and die.
List via EA Star Wars on Twitter

The list comes from the EA Star Wars Twitter account. They also said that more fixes are coming, making a Day one patch last almost a week long.

Is Jedi Survivor Getting A Day One Patch?

It’s been confirmed by EA that Jedi Survivor will receive a day-one patch. This was confirmed through Jedi Survivor’s dedicated FAQ page which mentions the following: ‘Players who purchase a physical copy of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be required to connect to the internet to install a Day 1 patch but can play offline after that if they so choose. Players who purchase the game on a digital storefront will receive the patch with their game download.

According to screenshots posted on Reddit, it seems as though an initial Day 0 patch (more on this below), on PC at least, came in at around 2.17GB. The day one patch, when it does roll out, will be across all platforms – PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PS5. While details are thin on the ground, we have had confirmation from EA via Twitter that the patch will address the following issues with official patch notes revealed when it drops:

  • Fix bugs
  • Improve performance
  • Add more accessibility

The patch is certainly going to be welcomed by the community. There are already reports that the PC version of the game is suffering from a number of issues, as cited on Reddit. Of course, Day One patches are common and it’s not unusual to see performance issues on launch – so we don’t think there is anything to worry about here. It’ll get fixed and performance, if hindered currently, will improve.

Steam DB also confirms an application branch with the name “pc_patch1_candidate” updated 28/04/23, which is most likely the day one patch discussed. However, there is no sign of a second patch yet.

The builds also show non-public builds. This still shows the last non-public option to be from the 28th of April, so the next patch is still being worked on that will aim to improve the performance of the game.

Jedi Survivor Day One patch release date prediction

As of right now, we don’t have the exact time that the Day 1 patch will release, but we hope it is sooner rather than later. We could well see a patch roll out this weekend (April 28-29) as performance issues are still affecting the game across multiple platforms. The PC version is encountering stability issues, while the PS5 version’s HDR mode is not working as intended. With negative reviews mounting, it’s now a race against time to fix up Jedi Survivor to the standards the dev team expects.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Day 0 patch

It appears as though there has been a day 0 patch for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, this patch was implemented to fix a number of bugs and issues before the game was physically launched to the public. The patch was around 2GB on Origin and 6GB on Steam, however, the patch introduced another issue for some users. It appears the day one patch has caused the storage allocation of the game to double for some users, with one Redditor displaying their Jedi: Survivor folder.

The only fix for this appears to be uninstalling and re-installing the game, If this issue affects you. It doesn’t appear that the Day 0 patch has improved performance at all, but we’re still waiting for the Day one patch to hopefully alleviate some of the performance woes.
