Star Wars: Jedi Survivor is here – and for those who have played the first entry, Fallen Order, you’ll be very familiar with some of the mechanics. However, for those looking to pick up Cal Kestis’ journey for the first time, there may be a few things that take a little getting used to. Luckily, for a game often compared to Dark Souls, there are number of accessibility features to help newbies feel welcome.

Just like the Souls games, Jedi Survivor requires timing, precision and places a huge emphasis on learning enemy attack patterns. You’ll die a lot on harder difficulties, so EA has ensured there are plenty of points to save your progress. Having put hours into Fallen Order, it’s no surprise the save mechanic is exactly the same here. Here’s how to do it.

How to save in Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

Saving in Jedi Survivor brings rewards and danger in equal measure. Firstly, just like in Dark Souls games, all enemies will respawn when you save. You can save your game at certain points dotted around each level – called Meditation points.

When you reach a Meditation circle, Cal enters a trance and you can ‘rest’ which saves your game and respawns enemies image taken by GFG

There is no way to save on the main menu and there is no ‘quick save’ option. When you approach a meditation circle and interact with it, Cal enters a trance. The screen will change, you’ll see the option to save which is called Rest. Doing so will cause the following to happen:

  • Your health will be restored
  • Enemies will respawn

To identify where you can save, you want to look for a marking on the floor. Meditation circles are usually found away from areas densely populated by enemies (we have screenshotted a typical save point below). They can be easy to miss, but come around quite frequently, so if you’re finding it’s been a while since you saw one, chances are you’ve missed it. Keep looking to avoid you having to replay earlier sections.

If you have not saved but die, then there is an autosave of sorts running in the background. Be careful here, though. It will be very unpredictable. Sometimes you will rewind some way back from the area you died. Others will see you restart after a key moment in the level . The former tends to happen when you fall off something – the game will reset you just ahead of the area you died at. Regardless, we strongly recommend saving at every meditation point.

Is there autosave in Jedi Survivor?

There is an autosave function in Jedi Survivor, but it’s hard to predict where it’ll respawn you if you die.

Do you have to rest to save in Jedi Survivor?

Yes. You need to visit meditation points to save your progress in Jedi Survivor.
