Many fans can’t wait for the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which once again sees protagonist Cal Kestis and his loveable droid BD-1 return for another adventure. While EA has released a detailed timezone map of when the game will release in different regions, many gamers are still wondering if the New Zealand trick works? That’s where we come in. Here’s everything you need to know.

Does the New Zealand trick work for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?

In short, no – the New Zealand trick will not work if you’re looking for ways to play Jedi Survivor early. That’s because it’s not launching at midnight across multiple timezones. The best thing to do is keep an eye on our release time countdown page – which will reveal the precise moment you can play the game.

The reason why the New Zealand trick often pops up around game launches is because there are instances where it can actually work. It involves changing the location of your console or using a VPN to ‘trick’ your console it’s in a different region. For global midnight launches, this sometime lets gamers get their hands on the game when it launches in New Zealand as they will hit midnight on the set date first.

However, it does not seem like this trick will work with Jedi Survivor, so we strongly advise waiting for launch. The New Zealand trick can also cause issues – we reported that some who tried using the trick with the recently launched Dead Island 2 ended up locking themselves out of the game for an additional 24 hours, so it’s simply not worth it.

What you can do right now, though, is preload Jedi Survivor and ensure your system specs are up to scratch. With reports the game can be intensive for PC gamers, you still have time to cross-reference what is required to run the game properly. We have created a best settings guide for you, which currently focuses on PS5 but will be expanded to include PC settings.
