If you want to build a relationship with someone in Stardew Valley, the easiest way to level up your friendship is by giving the NPCs gifts. While friendship events are just as important, gifting is one of the most efficient ways of getting someone to like you. You can give multiple gifts a day but not everything is appreciated by the NPCs in Stardew Valley. Each character has their personal preferences and giving someone the wrong gift, can hurt your friendship progress with them.
How to Gift in Stardew Valley
Talking to NPCs is the best way to find out what each character likes. But you can also search online for guides that let you know the personal preferences of all the NPCs. You can give each villager one gift per day and up to two gifts per week. Players can also keep track of the gifts in the social tab if they lose track of all the gifts they hand out per week.
You can review the villager’s gift preferences by clicking on their row in the Social Tab to open the “Gift Log”. This log keeps track of gifts given, and gift preferences learned via the game’s secret notes and dialogues. You should consider talking to all NPCs, especially ones that are connected to your potential love interests.
When it comes to gifting, the week begins on Sunday. If you give a villager two gifts in a week, their heart meter will rise by an additional ten friendship points on Sunday morning. You can always give a birthday gift, even if you’ve already given them two other gifts that week as there are no limitations when it comes to such gifts.
You can give your husband or wife one gift a day. Each villager has individual likes and dislikes, which affects how many friendship points are gained or lost when you give them a gift. Gifting events and birthdays have multiplier bonuses for gifts and you should try to take advantage of all the bonus friendship levels you can get.
