Some games are made to be played, others are made to be an experience, there there are those that are simply the embodiment of… cozy. Games you don’t have to worry about, there’s no big grand fight at the end, nor is there a time limit to accomplish a great quest. These are the games that really let you take a moment to breathe. Stardew Valley is – as you can tell considering this article’s title – one of those games.

Even looking at it, just invokes feelings of comfort. The music takes you away and within moments you’re no longer in your real-world, instead you’re on your digital grandpa’s farm you’ve inherited in the quaint little Stardew Valley. There are the Stardew veterans among us who’ve played countless hours on different and new farms. There are those who spill hours and love into a single farm, then there are those who hop in and out when the feeling hits them.

Well, Stardew Valley is such a simple little pixel game. And considering its popularity, it’s no surprise that there is an active community. A community of artists and creatives, and those who’ve taken the time to even mod the game. Stardew Valley Mods are all over, those that better the overall game, those that change character appearance, and those that even add new mechanics to the game. Some players might not like the generic pixel style we start off with. Or they feel like it’s a bit lacking. Well for PC Stardew Valley players, we’ve gathered some of the best cosmetic-only Stardew Valley mods.

These mods are – sadly – only available for PC players. Furthermore, these mods we’ve listed here are only cosmetic ones. So they’ll change the overall look of your game, or only change certain small parts. These mods will cover all aspects of the game but they’re the top 5 rated by the community. And if you’re looking for cosmetic changes, check out the best cosmetic Stardew Valley mods or our gameplay Stardew Valley mods.

Content Patcher Stardew Valley Mod

The top most used and downloaded mod. This Stardew Valley mod has a series of changes to it, particularly:  content packs that change the game’s data, images, and maps without replacing XNB files. Content packs can make changes dynamically based on many in-game details like location, weather, date, festivals or events, spouse, relationships, whether you have a Joja membership, etc.

Unlike XNB mods, these content packs get automatic update checks and compatibility checks, are easy to install and uninstall, support localisation automatically, are less likely to conflict, and are less likely to break due to game updates.

This mod doesn’t do anything on its own; you need to install content packs separately.

You can download the Content Patcher Mod here.

Stardew Valley Expanded Mod

Here’s a must-have for anyone who’s gotten a little bored of vanilla Stardew Valley. This pretty big and expansive mod adds so much onto the final game. Including new characters, new areas to farm and new locations altogether!

SVM

As explained in the mod’s description:

Stardew Valley Expanded (SVE) stays as true to the source material as it can- from new areas and expanded dialogue and events, to the portraits for a brand new set of characters. My goal, as a modder hobbyist, is this: “Give the player the magical feeling they had when they first played Stardew Valley”. To experience that magic as ConcernedApe intended, I recommend playing through vanilla Stardew Valley before jumping into SVE’s expanded world. For players who have already played Stardew Valley: think back to when you first walked into the Secret Woods, completed an elaborate quest, experienced Shane’s six heart event, or met Abigail for the first time. Stardew Valley is full of those inspired moments that enchant you and draw you into its world. By taking that world and expanding it, I hope to create more of those moments, so you can always find something new when you make your way back to the valley. Starting a new save file is required!

CJB Item Spawner

I like to call this mod Creative Mode. Basically you get access to all the game’s items, meaning you can very easily just do as you please and treat it more like a creative mode game.

Of course, if you prefer the traditional way to make money and get items then I can’t really recommend this mod! But if you’re looking to make it easier for yourself and thus giving yourself more time to do even more other things, then check out this mod.

You can download the CJB Item Spawn mod here.

NPC Map Locations

Have you ever found yourself scouring the entire Stardew Valley map for one NPC cause they’ve just gone AWOL? And no matter where you go, you have no idea where they are. You’re not the only one. This mod fixes that issue, allowing you to see where all the NPCs are so you know exactly where to go to find them.

See NPC and players on the map, with an optional minimap. This also redraws the map to be much more accurate to the game.

You can download the NPC Map Locations mod here.

Stardew Valley Mods: CJB Cheats Menu

Some people like to work and earn their rewards the way the game intended, but then there’s also those who want to just play the game and not worry about anything. And considering certain rules that the already-lenient Stardew Valley game has, giving yourself complete and free reign could be what’s missing for some people.

This mod allows for pretty much everything. You can increase your skill level, your friendship level, you can change the weather, warp to different locations and pretty much get rid of any and all constraints.

You can download the CJB Cheats Menu mod here.

There you have it, some of the best Stardew Valley mods going out there!
