The Game Awards was last night and we saw some crazy titles coming soon in the New Year. We also saw some expected games like Street Fighter 6 cemented after Sony’s leak on the 7th of December. Fans knew a Street Fighter 6 new trailer would be released, and it was aptly delivered to them.

Capcom’s revealing of the pre order trailer presented players with a few new faces, features and game modes to get excited for. With the game coming on the 6th of June 2023, we’ve got plenty to sink our teeth into for now. Here’s a quick break down of everything we saw in the trailer.

Along with more updates on the second closed beta test for Street Fighter 6, let’s begin our discussion of this trailer.

Street Fighter 6 new trailer breakdown – SF6 pre order

There’s a lot that was squeezed into around 2 minutes 40 in this trailer, so we’ll start with the really exciting new characters that you can fight with.

Street Fighter 6 trailer new characters

So, in this trailer we can see four distinct new characters to play with, each one with a very unique fighting style, it seems:

  • Dee Jay – Dee Jay looks incredibly fun to play as. He slightly resembles an answer to Tekken’s Eddie, and we’re here for it. Funky and mobile, yet heavy as I’m sure we’ll increasingly see from later content.
  • Manon – Kicking centric and acrobatic from the looks of her. Lots of taekwondo looking moves and covers a lot of ground with her long stretching high-kicks.
  • Marisa – An actually decently sized female heavy with similar wrestling move sets to the likes of Zangief. Big attacks, big damage.
  • JP – Magic and special ability user with a sleek design yet also appearing to deal quite heavy blows.

It’s really interesting to see some traditional styles of characters being played around with slightly, whilst also staying true to the core fighter abilities fans will be used to.

Street Fighter 6 new World Tour game mode and more

World Tour is a new game mode that features heavily in this latest trailer. An open world experience in which you get to create your own custom avatar and travel around Metro City. From what we can from the trailer, you will be training with the likes of Chun Li, Blanka and Ryu to teach you moves which you can then use to dominate.

The trailer also shows glimpses of the Battle Hub, which is SF 6’s social arena. This is where you can roam around with your customizable avatar and interact with other players, launching Fighting Ground matches. Each Battle Hub can hold up to 100 players, and you can play some classic Capcom arcade games like Final Fight.

You’ll need to register to play the second closed beta for Street Fighter 6, here’s how.

Street Fighter 6 new Drive Gauge mechanic

The Drive mechanic is brand new to Street Fighter 6 and will force players to keep on the offensive, incentivising players to parry and not block. By blocking, your Drive Gauge will deplete until you enter Burnout mode and lose the ability to do Drive mechanics until it refills.

So, there we have it, there’s all the newest stuff we saw in the new Street Fighter 6 World Premiere trailer from The Gamed Awards, be sure to check in for any more updates when the second closed beta finally releases on the 16th of December.
