The seminal tactics franchise is making a comeback over 25 years after the first release.
We have all the information that you need to know about the game.
Tactics Ogre: Reborn Release Date
Square Enix will release Tactics Ogre: Reborn on November 11th for Nintendo Switch, Steam, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. We don’t have any word on an Xbox release, but considering the platform’s historical issues with certain genres, that’s not much of a shock.
That said, in recent years, Microsoft has been making strides to capture the hearts of more Japanese gamers with IPs popular in the country. If they’re looking to win some points with the cult strategy crowd, an Xbox port of Tactics Ogre: Reborn could go a long way.
Tactics Ogre: Reborn Details
Tactics Ogre: Reborn is a bit of an odd duck. This release is an enhanced port, of a remake, of the original 1995 Tactics Ogre, released on PlayStation One. The PSP remake already featured improved sound and graphics compared with the game made for 90s hardware.
According to the publishers, Reborn will breathe new life into the IP while still managing to do right by the original game and its fans. They’ve even boldly claimed that the game would surpass the nostalgia of long-time fans. Possible they’re underestimating nostalgia.

Either way, an IP that has been dormant for this long will surely attract much attention. This is a series with a monolith like Square Enix behind it, so we can probably expect a decent advertising push.
Tactics Ogre: Reborn – Changes
Being a remake of a remake, you can expect some pretty big changes compared with the original 90s release. Some of those changes are graphical, as the screenshots show off handily.
According to a blog post on the game’s official site, all UI has also been streamlined to make it easier to process information. If you haven’t already, it sounds like this might be the definitive way to get into the series.
Another major improvement has been to combat, with a new AI system that changes how enemies react depending on your terrain and the battlefield environment. Hopefully, this will lead to more dynamic battles throughout the campaign mode.
