What Is The Callisto Protocol Release Date?

The Callisto Protocol is currently scheduled to launch on 2 December 2022.

We also have our first proper look at gameplay and death animations from The Callisto Protocol thanks to Gamescom 2022 Opening Night Live, with it also being announced that getting every death will result in an achievement.

What Is The Callisto Protocol?

A space horror title in the vein of Dead Space, directed by the co-creator of Dead Space, Glen Schofield.

It’s a narrative-driven third-person survival horror game, just like Dead Space was. You play as Jacob Lee, an inmate at Black Iron Prison on Jupiter’s Moon, Callisto.

While you’re there, inmates begin to transform into disturbing monsters, and it’s up to you to shoot and fight your way out of there while you attempt to discover what exactly happened here.

The chunk of gameplay that we’ve already seen revealed a series of gory deaths for some of the inmates, followed by an incredibly painful and gory-looking death for your player character, so we can expect that this game will be quite a disturbing experience all around.

It’ll be interesting to see how this differs in tone and gameplay style from the upcoming Dead Space remake, and how each game approaches horror in space differently. There’s so much sheer potential there that it would be foolish for them to not try and do something brand new.
