Constructing a character build in any FromSoftware dark fantasy RPG game like Elden Ring involves picking a select few stats and making sure that they stack with the weapons, items, and the play-style that you choose. Today we will be focusing on the Arcane stat – often overlooked yet useful – and the best 10 Arcane scaling weapons.

So what is Arcane? Well, Arcane influences item discovery, but more importantly build-ups. It’s effective to wield some weapons that have heavy build-up effects, and is worthwhile with the damage bonuses that increasing it brings.

Without further ado, here’s our pick of the top 10 arcane scaling weapons in Elden Ring.

Best 10 Arcane Scaling Weapons

Let’s get straight into it, starting with the bottom of the list.

10 – Reduvia

  • Reduvia Blood Blade

This is the back-stabber in Elden Ring, whether that be PvE or PvP. Fans of older FromSoftware games will know how fundamental the back stab is to scoring critical damage. It’s a powerful Arcane-scaling weapon that causes massive Blood Loss Build Up. Upgraded to +10, the Reduvia will cause a +87 Blood Loss Build Up per hit, which is insane.

The downside, which might not be a downside for players who use Quickstep for example, is that it lacks in range. Players who like poking to keep enemies at bay might want to think of a different option.

Despite this, the unique skill Reduvia Blood Blade sends projectiles, causing Hemorrhage. To do any of this, you need to defeat the NPC Invader Bloody Finger Nerijus, so it’s not the easiest to obtain either.

9 – Ripple Crescent Halberd

  • Spinning Slash

Ripple Crescent Halberd is one of the few weapons that can be upgraded to an “S” level scaling, making it formidable and optimal for Arcane straight off the bat. This weapon is locked to the ability Spinning Slash, which is great for dealing with hordes of enemies. Not only this, it is also one of the few arcane scaling weapons that can be buffed or have affinities added using consumables.

While it doesn’t offer any added status build-up, a high arcane stat can make this weapon do some serious damage. Nothing to sniff at, and great range for poking and slashing attacks.

8 – Varre’s Bouquet

  • Blood Tax

A low base AR (Attack Rating), but a Blood Loss Build Up to more than compensate for that. And if that’s not enough to entice you, the Ashes of War: Blood Tax not only deals a decent amount of damage, it also steals HP from the target. This is very useful during PvP encounters especially.

Just as with Reduvia, this Hammer-type weapon is not something you can stumble upon, since players will need to complete White-Faced Varré’s questline.

Elden Ring PvP – how much poise is needed

7 – Eleonora’s Poleblade

  • Bloodblade Dance

A Twinblade that not only scales with Arcane but also Dexterity. If that wasn’t enough to pique your interest, the flurry of attacks from the twin blades will stun enemies, along with the massive amount of Blood Loss Build Up and deals Fire Damage that can be buffed with other skills.

The weapon skill will perform a huge array of tornado-like attacks that staggers enemies and bosses alike. Plus, it’s not too hard to get a hold of, as you only need to start, not finish Bloody Finger Hunter Yura’s questline.

6 – Marais Executioner’s Blade

  • Eochaid’s Dancing Blade

The smallest Greatsword in the game that deals both Physical and Magic damage. It doesn’t scale from Intelligence, but instead it allows arcane builds to use higher magic damage. Players who favor strength weapons but want to mix in an Arcane build will love this. It starts with a 94 Physical Damage and has a ceiling as high as 230.

Eochaid’s Dancing Blade, has you throwing the weapon and having it return to you. Not only does this do considerable damage, it offers pretty great range options, too.

5 – Serpent Bow

  • Mighty Shot

We’re aware that bows might not be everyone’s cup of tea when it comes to FromSoftware’s games, but perhaps you’ll make an exception for this one! A bow that adds a status effect to any arrow makes it a top-tier ranged weapon. The status effect builds off of any other effect from special arrows, and adds a poison buildup.

Your arcane stat does not affect the overall damage to this weapon, only the buildup of poison, doubling it and adding multiple status effects. This weapon is locked to the Ash of war: Mighty Shot, but this skill does help with the potency of the poison buildup causing more effect than a regular arrow.

4 – Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear

  • Bloodboon Ritual

Defeating Mohg, Lord of Blood, is no easy feat, but if you can face your fears and defeat him head on after the 1.03 patch, you’ll be granted this incredible weapon.

This Great Spear uses Fire Damage primarily but also deals an insane amount of Blood Loss Build Up (+73) even without the use of Somber Smithing Stones. Plus, get this: the Weapon Skill will dowse the Great Spear in Bloodflame, which is incredibly powerful.

3 – Dragon Communion Seal

  • No skill

This Seal is perfect for a Faith and Arcane build. The Dragon Communion Seal will make any Dragon Communion Incantations deal considerably more damage to both enemies and players. As an example, Rotten Breath scales superbly.

You can access it early game at the first Dungeon players can use their Stonesword Keys, at Fringefolk Hero’s Grave.

2 – Morgott’s Cursed Sword

  • Cursed-Blood Slice

Morgott, The Omen King, is a formidable opponent, with an even more intimidating sword. This weapon has very high base damage for a status effect weapon. One of the lightest Curved Greatswords, this is certainly a worthy weapon to use in PvP, as it easily cause Bleeding.

In order to get this weapon, need to choose between Morgott’s Cursed Sword or Regal Omen Bairn after defeating him. Or, you can duplicate the remembrance and get both.

Every Elden Ring main boss in order

1 – Rivers of Blood

  • Corpse Piler

Every Soulsborne game has a couple renditions of the Katana, but the most effective Arcane Katana, as well as the most effective Arcane weapon period, is the Rivers of Blood Katana. This weapon is absolutley superb in both PvP and PvE, despite it’s recent nerf.

Every attack can be performed in quick succession, leaving very little time for enemies or players to react, and Corpse Piler creates large streaks of blood that cause significant damage to enemies and players from afar while dealing Blood Loss Build Up.
