With Mortal Empires still on the horizon, Blood for the Blood God is the first piece of DLC for Total War Warhammer 3 set for release. This is aside from the Ogre Kingdoms faction, but the Ogre Kingdoms come baked into the game for a limited type during the launch window. As such, Blood for the Blood God is the first fully post-launch DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3.
Blood for the Blood God features
Blood for the Blood God continues a trend set up in the first two Total War: Warhammer games. Each of those games featured a similarly titled DLC pack, available shortly after release. These packs add optional blood, gore, and dismemberment effects to the game. Total War: Warhammer 3’s version is also set to include additional animations.
If this is such a series staple, it begs asking; why has it not simply been included in the game at launch? There is some speculation that by leaving these as optional features, Total War: Warhammer can avoid a higher age restriction. And thus be met with a wider audience.
Regardless of its reason for being, this DLC will include optional features to add a bit of grit and gore to players’ campaigns. And with the hordes of Chaos at the center of the story this time around, Blood for the Blood God is looking more appropriate than ever.
It remains to be seen if Creative assembly will offer a little something extra for the Khorne faction in this version of the DLC. While there is no precedent for it, they are the pack’s namesake after all.
Is Warhammer 3 Blood for the Blood God confirmed?
Yes! As set out in their FAQ, Creative Assembly has confirmed that Blood for the Blood God will be coming soon to Total War Warhammer 3. And it will also be totally free to any player that owns Blood for the Blood God packs from previous Total War: Warhammer games.
When will Blood for the Blood God release?
No release date has been set yet for this DLC pack. But Creative Assembly has specifically promised that players will not have to wait for long.
If it fully follows the trend set out by the first two games, the Blood for the Blood God DLC will launch one month after the game’s release. It would be a fair bet to look out for it around the end of March. We’ll be giving updates once a solid release date is confirmed.
