If the Darkest Dungeons was famous for anything, it was the cut-throat difficulty of the levels as you progress. Darkest Dungeons 2 is no different. In fact, some may argue Red Hook’s original game pales in comparison to its sequel. With more characters, plot, and places to explore, players are curious what is the most difficult level in Darkest Dungeons 2.

What is the most difficult level in Darkest Dungeon 2?

The hardest level you’ll encounter in Darkest Dungeons 2 is the final one, where you encounter the Heart of Darkness. You might be wondering how we ended up at that conclusion, and that might be because you have to go through an entire sequence of drawn-out levels with overpowered bosses before you actually get to witness the Heart Of Darkness and its destructive powers.

So what makes The Heart Of Darkness scarier than the likes of, say, The Shambler or The Countess? Well, it probably has to do with the fact that it quite literally has the most powerful ability in the game: Come Unto Your Maker. This ability forces you to choose any character on your team and causes them to die instantly. Yep, you read that right. Imagine having to choose which member of your beloved party you want to kill.

And on top of that, the Eldritch monstrosity is a menace to finish off due to its incredible HP stats. Its regular attacks aren’t anything to joke about either, as they can easily whittle you down in an instant.

Does Darkest Dungeon 2 get easier?

We’re really sorry to break it to you, but the easiest part of Darkest Dungeon 2 passed you when you decided to start the game. After that, it’s a continuous uphill battle to defeat one terrifying wave after the other. On the bright side, though, the people you get to recruit further along your playthrough are a lot more competent. Their skill sets improve as you progress, and so the nearly impossible levels are slightly less impossible.
