When it comes to solving crimes as a private eye, murders are going to be at the top of your list in Shadows of Doubt. When you’re not investigating clues, searching apartments, or questioning people about a suspect, you’ll be chasing down killers.

However, there may come a time when the killer just doesn’t feel like doing their job. When this happens, it can be frustrating to know what to do. If you ever find yourself without a murder to solve in Shadows of Doubt, here’s what you need to know.

Shadows of Doubt – When do murders occur?

Murders happen pretty often in Shadows of Doubt. If you happen to not see any more murders, just wait patiently and another will occur.

The developers say all you need to do is wait. To be more precise, if you find the game not presenting more murders, you should focus on finding more evidence and clues for the current case. Tracking down the killer and putting them behind bars will result in a new murderer showing up in the future.

Though, it’s difficult to tell exactly when they will appear as everything in the game is procedurally generated.

Why are no murders happening in Shadows of Doubt?

There are many reasons for this. If this happens, you could be encountering a few different outcomes. Before moving on, you should be aware that only one killer is active at a time. So, stopping the killer will end all murders for a time. At least until a new one is supposed to show up.

The murderer may only kill one target during the specific case. If that’s the scenario, you’ll need to find them and complete the job by handcuffing and arresting them. Once they are behind bars, a new killer should show up and murder an innocent victim. However, this could take a few hours of playtime, so feel free to explore the city and collect side jobs while you wait.

Of course, another situation you could find yourself in is dealing with a serial killer. Serial killers are the only murderers in Shadows of Doubt that will kill multiple people while they’re on the loose. You could find one body and then later on find a second. If you stumble upon multiple bodies, you’ve got a serial killer on your hands.

You can try making a smaller map if you’re looking for more murders to solve. Large maps have a tendency to be sluggish and can result in things taking longer to load. This includes finding a new murderer among the hundreds of NPCs in the world.

It can be difficult to be a detective without a murder to solve. Players have been running into the problem of not having a murder victim show up after solving their first murder case.
