Like many online games these days, Yugioh Master Duel comes with its own Battle Pass, in the form of the Duel Pass. Unlike many Battle Passes however, the Duel Pass does not feature primarily on cosmetic items, outside of a small number at higher levels of progression. Instead, it allows players to amass Gems – used to purchase cards packs – and crafting materials to create cards of their choosing. This gives the Duel Pass a tangible effect on gameplay, making it a near-essential part of the Yugioh Master Duel experience.

Duel Pass Progress

In order to progress in the Duel Pass, players need to compete in Ranked Duels and Events Duels. Doing so grants a number of points, shown as follows:

Play a duel: 500-100 points

Win a duel: 120 points

Accruing a number of Duel Pass points will allow the player to reach the next Grade on the Duel Pass. The points need for each Grade are:

Grade 2 to 10: 50 points

Grade 11 to 15: 60 points

Grade 16 to 20: 70 points

Grade 21 to 25: 80 points

Grade 26 to 30: 90 points

Grade 31 and over: 100 points

In Yugioh Master Duel, receiving rewards in Ranked Duels depends on performing well and receiving points. While same is true for the Duel Pass, both winning and simply competing in a duel are both worth a flat rate. And unlike with Ranked Duel progression the amount for simply participating in a duel is sizeable. This makes the Duel Pass a great incentive for new players, or those that entered a new ranked bracket and are struggling to keep up.

How Long does each Duel Pass last?

Unless something drastically changes in the future, it is reasonable to assume that every Duel Pass will last for the same amount of time. If this is the case, players will have a little over two months to claim their rewards each time, before moving on to the next.

Worth its weight in gems?

The basic version of the Duel Pass is available to all Yugioh Master Duel players by default. In addition, there is a premium option available for purchase; the Duel Pass Gold. Purchasing this effectively doubles – and sometimes more – the rewards that players receive at each grade.

The trade-off for these increased rewards is a one-time cost of 600 Gems: the equivalent of six card packs. A pack of 720 gems can be purchased in-game for the cost of $13.99/£9.79, which will cover the cost with a little left over. However, each Yugioh Master Duel player has the option of purchasing a bundle of 1500 gems for the same price. This deal is highly recommended for the Gold Duel Pass, as it gives more than double the original number of gems for free. Unfortunately, this bundle can only be purchased up to a maximum of three times per account.

There is also good news for those that are entirely averse to spending money in-game like this. Yugioh Master Duel is uncommonly generous with its premium resources – at least in the early game – in contrast to many free-to-play titles. There are many other ways to acquire Gems, usually in the form of Daily and Unlimited missions, and clearing certain paths in solo mode. As a result, any new player will have more than enough gems available while they get to grips with the game. Duel Pass Gold also offers gems as a reward at many progression grades, making it possible for players to earn their initial purchase back. With enough time invested into progression, Duel Pass Gold offers players the resources and flexibility needed to head for the top of Ranked Duels.
