Weapons breaking was quite a shock for many players in Breath of the Wild and many are wondering if it will make its return in Tears of the Kingdom. This feature makes it so you can’t just rely on one weapon and need to keep a loaded arsenal on you at all times.

Since Nintendo has been very secretive about everything surrounding Tears of the Kingdom, it is up to fans to answer these questions for themselves. Let’s go over if weapons will degrade in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on the Nintendo Switch.

Is there weapon durability in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Yes, weapons do degrade and break in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This was confirmed even before the game released through gameplay trailers. The system is the same as in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. So going back and playing through The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to practice dealing with it might not be a bad idea.

So regardless of how you make your items, like bows and arrows, they will be breakable weapons. This can be a source of frustration but this can bring in new ways of experimentation that the predecessor, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This brings in resource management through the new fuse ability, and creates more melee weapons.

Since we know the weapon-degrading mechanic will be making a return, many fans are curious if the Master Sword will work the same way it did in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The Master Sword was not immune to breaking but would regenerate over time essentially making it an infinitely useable weapon.

The Master sword is normally the exception to any weapon degration, as it is the best weapon in any Zelda game. So if you’re wondering about this one, don’t worry, you’re good. However, any shields you make will fall under the weapon durability system.

The fuse mechanic can take a boulder, tree branch, or any item in your inventory and make it work for you, but they’re all subject to degradation.

If you have any more questions about Tears of the Kingdom, we have plenty of guides that should be able to give you some answers before the full release of the game later this year.
