How does the new RTX 4070 Ti match up against a previous-gen 3080 12GB

After being unlaunched, the RTX 4080 12GB was repackaged as the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, which will be available on January 5. But how do the RTX 4070 Ti’s specifications and performance compare to those of the RTX 3080?

We can now confirm that the RTX 4070 Ti’s official specifications match those of the RTX 4080 12GB, which has not yet been published. When RT-Overdrive is activated, it is up to 3.5 times faster as compared to the RTX 3080 12GB graphics card. When DLSS 3 is activated with overdrive disabled, you’ll observe gains that are more than twice as great as those of the 4080.
The two graphics cards’ distinct architectural features are the most noticeable variances between them at first glance. Here, the differences are quite severe.
The Samsung 8nm device used in the Ampere architecture is half the size of the Ada Lovelace architecture, which is based on TSMC’s 4nm N4 technology.
This distinction essentially means that electricity is transferred to the GPU more effectively. This is seen in the 226W system power requirement as opposed to the 3080s 350W, resulting in marginally more reasonable operating expenses.
The Ada Lovelace architecture also supports DLSS 3.0, which enables the GPU to anticipate the following frame without first needing to look at the image data that hasn’t yet been displayed. In other words, the 4070 Ti supports both GPU and CPU-intensive game performance, which is unquestionably a plus.

Comparing the two cards on 3DMark benchmarks we can compare their graphical power. This gives us a good comparative view of the two and how powerful they are. There the 3080 12GB achieves a score of 18,588, compared to the 4070 Ti’s 22,652. This means the 4070 Ti is 22% better than the 3080 12GB.
For the clock speeds, there is some improvement over the previous generation. That specification shows that the 3080 12GB has a base clock of 1,260 Mhz and a boost clock of 1,710 MHz. Whilst the RTX 4070 Ti gets a base clock of 2,310 MHz and a boost of 2,610 MHz. This means the 4070 Ti has an 83% faster base clock and a 53% faster boost clock than the 3080 12GB.
