As the RTX 4000 series of graphics cards come out, it’s all the top-level cards coming out. So with that, we look at the RTX 4060 specifications in hopes the rumors are true and we might see a more affordable option. Since the Ada series started out with the RTX 4090 in October 2022, there was a minimum of a $1,599 USD entry point. And that was the only card released at the time. So for a while, the entry point for the generation was quite steep.

Even the next selection of cards to release has been slow and still on the top end. With the RTX 4080 coming next in November and the RTX 4070 Ti in January. Even then, the pricing was at $1,199 and $799 respectively. This is still a steep price for entry, and now with the RTX 4070, that has come down a bit to $599, but even still a lower option is not a bad idea and the 4060 release date may not keep you waiting too long either.

Now with the announcement of the RTX 4060 family, we get more info on when and what to expect. The RTX 4060 launch is expected in July alongside the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB. And it will come with a price of $299, and no Founders Edition model so the custom card pricing may vary.

Now for the RTX 4060 specs, there are a few things to go off of and we compare it to the last generation card too. Based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, it’s built on the AD106-350 GPU, with TSMCs 5nm process. The processor has on it 3,074 shading units (CUDA cores) with the specifics of the ray tracing cores and TMUs not detailed yet.

The core is clocked with a 1,830 MHz base clock and a boost clock up to 2,460 MHz. For its VRAM, it features 8GB of GDDR6 memory, with a 128-bit memory interface clocked at 18 Gbps for a bandwidth of 288 GB/s. All of which come with a total graphics power of 115 Watts.

Although the specs may seem lower than previous ones, it is likely to still improve performance due to the general architectural improvements. Nvidia suggests the card is 1.2x over RTX 3060 without frame generation and 1.7x with it on. But there is no benchmarks without and as such we have to wait and see how it performs.
