How to fix Elden Ring low FPS?

In the short time, the game has been out there are reports of micro stuttering and low FPS, even if you have the best graphics card. There are a few ways you can try to fix Elden Rings’ performance issues.

Method

Update graphics drivers

This may be a simple fix for you if you have not updated your graphics drivers in a while. Not doing so may cause the game to not run as it should and they need to be kept up to date with game releases.

If you have an Nvidia card you can update your driver via Geforce Experience or downloading the latest one from it’s website.

Intel graphics drivers can also be updated from its website. Although we’re not sure how well the game runs on these.

2

Change graphics settings

One way to try to improve the perfromance is to change the game files to high performance mode. You can achieve this by searching for “graphics settings” in windows. When that is open select desktop app and browse for your game files. Set it to high performance and possibly experience less issues.

3

Turn off Steam overlay

Steam overlay can cause some issues especially in newly released ports or games. To turn off Steam overlay right click Elden Ring in your library and click properties. It should be the first option you see in general, turn it off and close the window. Now launch the game and it will run without the overlay and possibly improve perfromance.

Set Global Shader Cache Size to unlimited

With Nvidia Geforce Experience installed you have the Nvidia control panel (which you can open by right clicking Nvidia icon in the tray). There go to the “Manage 3D settings” tab on the left side-bar. There under the global settings scroll down to global shader cache size and set it to global and apply. Here you can also set power preference to high perfromance to help.
